Do Bodyweight Exercises Really Work?
by Dave Keal, Dav
I use to be a gym rat, go to the gym and lift weights like everybody else In the beginning I made some advances. After a while, those advances stopped happening. And who isn't motivated by the feeling of making progress?
As if by luck, I found some information on bodyweight exercises. You remember those exercises, from the physical education days? So when I started doing the bodyweight exercises, I started to feel like I was making progress again.
I began doing exercises with very little weight, not real lifting weights exercises, but ones that challenged me like no other exercise did before. Sometimes I only used as much as 10 pounds. These were also like bodyweight exercises.
I began to cycle more and more exercises through my regimen. I even got some kettlebells and a stability ball, which helped keep my ever increasing interest in exercising. You can't believe how many different workouts I have now, no reason to ever be bored again. What's worse than dragging your butt into the gym?
I hit my workout area with energy when it's time to work out. Just a sampling of some of the exercises I might do in my workout is:
1. Crunches on the Swiss ball
2. Dive bomber pushups
3. Running on the mini-trampoline
4. Military press on balance disks
5. An exercise called the Swimmer
I literally have countless routines I can do. Looking forward to exercise the way I do, no wonder I'm feeling better than I ever did? Variety is your friend when it comes to exercise, start to use it and you'll never be bored again.
Believe it or not, everything I've found on the internet has been free or low cost. I never spent a lot of money, like those ridiculous infomercials. Ok, maybe I did once, but I learned my lesson.
If I ever feel like I'm starting to get stagnant with my routine, time to pick up another gem of a book for as little as 5 to 30 bucks on the internet, and I'm back in business. Just one book adds a whole bunch of new exercises to my regimen.
Give me a workout room, a stability ball, my kettlebells and my jump rope and I've got all I need but a butt-kicking workout.
