Grape's are not only a wonderful and tasty fruit, but are also the key ingredient in the production of wine. A liquor that has been around for more than six-thousand years, and still manages to survive the test of time. The production of wine is a long and complicated process that could potentially be drawn out over the course of months or years. This process however, shadows in comparison to the sheer variety and availability of thousands of types of grape's and their hybrids for use in making wine.
Wine making grape's are grown literally in all parts of the habitable world with at least a semi-stable climate. With their thousands of types and available hybrids, there is no doubt that there could potentially be a grape vineyard in most places around the world. A stable climate is a key factor, along with growing and harvesting time, in the production of a good bottle of wine. Ask any reputable wine maker, and most agree that the selection of your grape is of the utmost importance if you wish to be successful.
Malbec, or also known as Auxerrois, creates a very neutral wine. Some people often refer to it as a fruity or "softer" tasting wine, the grape itself is typically grown in Luxembourg and Canada. Cabernet Sauvignon is the name of the grape, as well as it's resulting wine. On the vine, this grape is small, very hard, and bright red in color. Usually grown in California or Australia, this grape makes for some of the best red wine available and usually tastes like blackberries.
Merlot, is a grape that ripes very early in the season compared to most other grapes. Also one of the more prevalent brands of wine, it is known for being able to produce several different tastes. Of those include cherry, honey, and occasionally mint depending on the length of growing and fermentation.
His decisions regarding the harvesting, fermenting cycle, bottling, and shelf aging time's all will play a role in the final taste of wine as well. No one denies that the job of choosing between the different varieties of wine making grapes can be a challenging yet rewarding process.
