In the 12 Animals Zodiac system of astrology, our character is influenced by our year of birth. For example those born in the year of the rat are intelligence but suspicious while those born in the year of the horse are generous and loves freedom. And those who are born in the year of the dog are as you may already guess, loyal. Based on our year of birth we are imbued with certain characteristics that make us more of less compatible with each other.
According to the ancient Chinese, the Monkey, Rat and Dragon form a compatible set. They have characteristics that make them more compatible with each other. The other compatible sets are the Snake, Rooster and Ox, the Pig, Rabbit and Goat and the Tiger, Horse and Dog. If you check the year of birth you notice that they are four years apart. For example those born in 1964 are Rats, 1968 are Dragons and 1972 are Monkeys!
In addition to the above combinations, the other compatible combinations are between the Rat and Ox, Pig and Tiger, Dog and Rabbit, Rooster and Dragon, Monkey and Snake and between the Goat and Horse.
The Rat on the other hand is supposedly less compatible than the Horse. They form an incompatible set. The other incompatible sets are between Ox and Goat, Tiger and Monkey, Rabbit and Rooster, Dragon and Dog and between the Snake and Pig. If you check the year of birth you will notice that they are six year apart!
The Chinese astrology compatibility tools that you find on the Internet are largely based on the abovementioned principles of combination and clash. Most will also include more combinations and clashes that I have not mentioned above but I hope you are getting the idea.
What if you and your spouse form an incompatible set? Do not panic. Did you notice that I used the word ?supposedly? many times? In practice our character is also heavily influenced by the month, day and hour of birth which is not taken into consideration in the above examples. Therefore it is entirely possible for a Rat person to display characteristics of other animals!
In my practice, I have seen many supposedly incompatible sets of husbands and wives. They are still together after many years of marriage and some of them quite happily! Perhaps love plays a part too!
Triangles of Affinity/ Compatibility Triangle
There are four triangles of affinity. The 12 animal signs are divided between these. On the basis of similar thinking patterns and general compatibility, 3 animal signs constitute each triangle.
An atmosphere of harmony, success and endurance in business ties or in friendship/romance is assured between the 3 animals belonging to the same triangle. Happiness is doubled because of similar interests, hobbies, tastes, mutual understanding.
Minor disputes and niggling problems will always be there. But on the whole, there is a high chance of a long, durable and stable union. These 3 compatible animal signs should go ahead with marriage/business venture.
This does not however mean that, compatible relations cannot exist between all the Chinese astrology signs.
Sheep, Pig and Rabbit Triangle
They have a keen sense of aesthetics and are very sensitive. Intelligence is not their forte, but they can be humble. All three of them are flexible, dependent on others, diplomatic, creative with an artistic bent of mind, calm and cool-headed, expressive, intuitive, sensual, emotional, peace loving and seekers of beauty and love.
Snake, Rooster and Ox Triangle
They also are endowed with complementary traits like the animal personalities in the 1st triangle of affinity. They are always focused on their goals and ambitions; defeat is something that shatters them. Profoundly thoughtful, meticulous, systematic, determined, dedicated, purposeful, these people are supposed to be steadfast, intellectual, independent-minded, slow but sure and dutiful.
Horse, Dog and Tiger Triangle
Obviously, the most loyal and transparent of the trio is the dog, but it is lacking in the mobility of the horse. Liberty is what they thrive on. They are defiant and like to rebel against injustice, they are full of life, energetic, high spirited, honest, affectionate, loyal, impulsive, idealistic, skilful communicators and love to serve others.
Dragon, Monkey and Rat Triangle
They are performance oriented people who love to take initiatives. This 1st group constitutes the most positive and competitive people of the four triangles, with the whole trio being action oriented. They share complementary characteristic traits.
They are commonly perceived as intense, passionate, restless, energetic, dynamic, ambitious, imaginative, and innovative by people. They can't look beyond progress. For e.g. Dragon;s courage compensates for rat's timidity.
Monkey and rat possess a lot of cunning. But this negative quality is absent in dragon's character.
Signs Incompatibility
A compatible relation between snake and pig, dog and dragon, rooster and rabbit, monkey and tiger, sheep and ox and horse and rat is difficult, might turn out to be disastrous and thoroughly sorrowful and it is best to avoid such a match.
