Open loop: The design of this is the simplest and the oldest. It works on a single point inductive gas mixer. This design is for single and multiple carburettor. There is not scope of fuel management. This kit is not suitable for supercharged or turbocharged engine. This kit is not suitable for vehicles with a catalytic converted
Closed Loop: This LPG kit is also with single point inductive gas mixer. This kit is suitable for most cars till 1996 but not all. In this system a controller and actuator have to be provided, fitting, wiring and setting up has to be done with the help of gas analyser and a computer. The efficiency of this system is slightly better than the open loop system.
Multi Point Gas Injection: This type of LPG kit is fit for auto engines with electronic fuel injection systems that are equipped with oxygen sensor, catalytic converter, plastic inlet manifold. The sources of inputs are Oxygen sensor signal, RPM signal, throttle position sensor signal (TPS signal) and manifold ambient pressure (MAP) .This system is bit expensive but more fuel efficient than others.
Multi Point Sequential Gas Injection (SGi): Besides the information from equipments such as oxygen sensor, catalytic converter, plastic inlet manifold this system requires information regarding gas temperature, pressure of the gas, petrol injector pulse length. This system is more fuel efficient than others.
Body of the car : If the body of the car is very heavy it is supposed to use up more of the fuel. One should get rid of extra weight from the car such as the base ball bat or files which are not needed.
The best way to know the LPG Kit Efficiency is how much gas is used to travel a specific distance or it could be other way round as how much distance is covered when a specific quantity of LPG is used.
The LPG Kit efficiency can be maximized if certain steps are taken. These steps are as follows.
1. Do not idle car for a long time 2. Once you crank up your LPG car, start moving 3. Instead of applying the brakes too often try changing the lanes and let the car roll on. 4. If it is a brief stopover for less than 5 minutes do not turn off the car. 5. Turn off your car if you are going to stop for more than 10 minutes 6. The tyres should be properly inflated.
