Valium also chemically known as diazepam, are simple oral administration tablets which include the various inactive ingredients like the pregelatinized starch, corn starch, anhydrous lactose etc. The drug is sometimes used during the acute problems suffered while alcohol withdrawal such as acute agitation, delirium tremens, tremor and hallucinosis. Valium is also used for providing relief to the skeletal muscles during problems like the inflammation in the muscles or joints and also in trauma. It is an important drug used in the stiff-man syndrome, the stiffness of muscles caused due to the disorder in the upper motor neurons and athetosis. The drug is orally administered by a person suffering from convulsions.

In order to achieve the best possible result of valium, a proper amount or dosage should be taken. Basically, the dosage of the drug largely depends upon the intensity of the disorder, symptoms and the patient's condition. Thus, the dosage should be properly adjusted after consulting a good doctor. There are certain precautions that need to be taken while consuming the drug. Some of these precautions have been mentioned here below.

1Valium is a drug that is not usually recommended for the psychotic patients.
2The drug directly affects the central nervous system of the patient. Thus, the patient should avoid taking in alcohol or any other type of central nervous system depressant while the valium therapy for the alcoholism is being conducted.
3While the treatment is being carried on for the various disorders, the valium intake shouldn't be withdrawn as that may lead to increase in the severity of the disorder.
4The drug shouldn't be taken in combination with the other drugs as it may cause drug interactions which may be fatal for the person.
5During pregnancy, the intake of drugs like valium should be avoided as it increases the possibilities of various congenital malformations or abnormalities such as cleft palate, encephalopathy etc.
6The drug may cause respiratory problems, feeding difficulties, hypothermia in the newborn child.
7During delivery, the dosage of the drug should be taken care off as the single higher dose of the drug causes various types of irregularities in the heart rate and hypotonia.

Thus, before taking the drug it is always better to consult a good doctor.
