What Is A Qualified Lead, And Why Do I Care?
by Alex Schoenfeldt, Ale
There are lots of options for finding new clients. Some expensive, some cheap, some time consuming. The yellow pages have been useless for a few decades now, but they are still just as expensive. Networking is always a favorite. If you are good at networking, it might be the best way to create new business. If you are not good at networking, or like spending your evenings with your family, you need another option.

Having a website is great, but opening a website and hoping people come to it is about as effective as the aforementioned waiting for people to walk in your door. It is going to be along wait.

As a small business person, for me the most effective source of new clients has been buying qualified leads. Let me explain what that means with a real world example.

A qualified lead starts with a consumer who has a specific need for your business service. Maybe they are moving and need a real estate agent. Maybe they are getting married and need a caterer, florists, and photographer. Maybe they are running a business, and they need accountants or marketing or consulting. They take their need to the internet. They fill in a form describing their need. Qualified vendors in their area are then sent a notice and have the option of purchasing the contact information of the client,

From there it is still up to the vendor to close the sale, but this is so much easier from this point of having a qualified lead than it would have been from cold. The people who fill out the request are expecting to be called and contacted. They are looking for your service. It is a great way to do business.
