Nokia 3600 Slider- Common Mans Feature Phone
by Monty Alexander, Mon
After a well applauded era of classy N series and the Nokia Xpress music it seems Nokia is now after a different niche. It might mean a month's paycheck for few but hey at least there is a new phone in their reach with more to fancy about. Yes I am talking about Nokia's new 3600 slider. Nokia this time has managed to bundle up few catchy features such a 3.2 megapixel camera, VGA video and TV out, Nokia Maps and Bluetooth over and above the basics in this mid ranged phone. The design is no hype, but I would give credit to the simplicity and elegance.

Catering middle class is not an easy task. While rendering a pack of catchy features one has to take care of the affordability factor as well. And not forgetting that the users would surely go in details checking the performance and the capabilities of each phone feature, at least two to three high edged features should be appealing enough. The good thing about Nokia 3600 slider is that this phone manages to fulfill the above. The imaging is the USP in this case. The 16M-color screen, 3 mega pixel auto-focus camera, VGA video and TV-out does sound imperious for the midrange phone. Supporting this factor is the series of well off basic features such as an audio player, FM radio, stereo Bluetooth, EDGE and expandable memory, all on the fit and reliable S40 platform. The design off course is convincingly graceful.

Slider's key features
Another must buy feature is the new UI supporting Nokia Maps applications, which works as good as the one on Nokia Symbian smartphones. For its price it functions great with an external Bluetooth GPS receiver so finding your way around is no problem at all. Dropping down to the more basic features, the point to be highlighted here is a dedicated phonebook storing up to 2000 contacts and that I guess is more than enough. One can also assign personal pictures or videos that will run on an incoming call. Compiling the two features mentioned above is an add-on called Find-on-Map option that lets one locate the contact's address on the new Nokia Maps for S40 application. The messaging comprises of SMS, MMS and email, as well as flash and audio messages which is again a feel good factor.

Coming to the entertainment factor of Slider Phone, the music player functions well supporting a lot of formats like AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, MP3, MP4, WMA, AMR-NB, Mobile XMF, SP-MIDI, MIDI Tones (64-tone poly) and True tones. This also supports stereo Bluetooth earphones apart from proving a good number of configurable options.

In conclusion I would say it is not at all bad bargain. With a low price range and all those features I would say it's one its kind.
