[C606]Chinese Feng Shui Compass
by Lynn Lee, Lyn

You might have lived in not so blissful ignorance, not knowing that your furniture arrangements and directions are actually inaccurate and you have not been on the receiving end of the maximum benefits or worse - an off centre direction might even be a great bright red flag inviting bad luck and other harmful elements into your home.

Benefits Of A Feng Shui Compass

A compass is extremely useful not only because it is a tool used by the masters of feng shui of old, but it is extremely accurate. It can give the user a much more detailed map and information of what type of house (depending on the direction and other factors) as well as important information such as positions you and your family should sleep, positions to face while working and how to rearrange your furniture so that you and your loved ones will be in good standing.

Depending on the compass reading, the time of the year, the year itself and some other snippets of information, your house will be classified under any of the eight classifications (from Kan to Chi'en). For example if the house (or any space) is measured under a compass reading of 337 degrees, it would be classified under ‘Li' - which means your house is facing North West.

By bringing in factors like the year (2008) and certain calculations, the feng shui will able to determine which segment of the house you should activate (typically for this arrangement, it would be north-west) for wealth. It will also identifiy certain other spots where changes should be made and objects inserted (like water objects or mirrors) that will properly activate health, wealth and luck energies so that you and your family can realise your true potential.

It also identifies the ‘dark' and sinister spots in the house as well as unfavourable directions that you must overcome with good feng shui. No other will give you such a complete blueprint on how to optimise your home to become a microwave of good energy.

Fortune compasses also use calculations based on your birth date – these are called ‘Kua' numbers and can also form the basis of finding personal power centre and the appropriate directions you should be taking in life to maximise life experiences.

I will admit that there is quite a bit to master in relation to the feng shui compass but the effort is more than worth it. Also there are many guides online that give you a step by step informative approach to help you gain your footing and point you in the right direction.

The feng shui compass also works with the ‘ba gua' map as well as the feng shui flying star - just part of the calculations that can enhance the use of the feng shui compass in finding the right directions that can enhance your luck and prosperity like never before.

Feng Shui is an ancient science, which has been studied by Chinese people for many centuries. They have observed the way that the energy which interacts with nature and our surroundings ultimately end up affecting us positively or negatively, this is also part of the great studies about Ying-Yang. Chinese people also studied the compass and directions according to living areas and the five elements which affect them (fire, earth, metal, water and wood)

The living areas mentioned above were divided into force fields which are shown in the Bagua-map. According to Feng Shui principles Chinese researchers and masters used many symbols and objects when they built and decorated a living area. Since this great way of living became highly popular several trends started to emerge among the principal divisions of Feng Shui we have the eastern school and western division.

The eastern school which is also called the classic/traditional Feng Shui, portrays remedies which are represented by symbols in the Chinese astrology, it also relies on mystic powers, arrangement of the objects in living area, talismans and special animals such as dragons and three legged frogs.

On the other hand, the western school focuses on the way people are affected by their surroundings, the color combinations they use, lights or illumination, materials and shapes.

As previously stated Feng Shui has many interpretations and divisions, one of the most famous among Danish people is called Neo Feng Shui which focuses on specific decorating philosophy. This variation has taken the essence and basic principles from the old wisdom and removed all layers of religious belief, superstition, cultural influence, traditions, etc. resulting in a Feng Shui philosophy best suited to the twenty first century thought model. Understanding Neo Feng Sui provides all the tools necessary to influence your life, well being as well as your personal development in an active way.

By adjusting room objects and understanding their influence on us, it is possible to use the environments in a conscious way, so that we would be supported in our personal development and work in order to achieve the desired outer and inner changes.

It is important to understand that Neo Feng Shui is not about fashion, it is about creating well being, a good environment for development and success in our home or place of business. Through this method all of the solutions and suggestions given in a Konsultation are unique and focused on each case because we all are on different levels of developments and we have different needs and wishes in life.
