This can be set in the registry of the OS by creating a new DWORD named TCPAckFrequency in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParametersInterfaces. Registry editing is a bit confusing and if you are doing it for the first time, it is better to seek the help of a person who is well experienced with dealing the registry. One wrong turn and you might get yourself completely locked from the PC. A value of 1 must be given to this new DWORD created. Reboot the PC and try the game again with the server. There should be a marked lowering of the latency. If no effect is seen please change the earlier set value from 1 to 2.

?Further editing on the registry is also needed to enable the second tweak too. In this tweak a new DWORD named TCPNoDelay is created and given a value of 1. This DWORD is created in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMSMQParameters. Once again ample care and caution must be taken while playing with the registry. If you are unsure about the process always make a backup of the registry before beginning to edit it. This backup might be helpful in restoring the PC to its old form, in case anything goes awry.

The above mentioned tweaks have been listed in many forums worldwide and they are known to lower the pings by 150ms to 200ms. Hence the dream of lower ping can be achieved on your ISP itself. Make sure the ports which are required by the game is always kept open and not blocked by any firewall software.
