Protecton For The Home When You Are Away
by David L. Smith, Dav
While you are away the last thing you want to have happen is any sort of situation like a break in or even an attempt at one so here are a few simple and effective tips to help when you are getting ready to take that trip.

Of course the most simple but important step in theft prevention is to lock all of your doors and windows. If you have a security screen door, be sure to lock this, too. If in the case of your windows you have any concerns you can purchase window locks or use wood to jam them from being able to be opened. A metal bar can also be purchased that will aid in allowing nay sliding back doors to be forced open even if their locks are defeated.

Always take a little time to check the conditions of your locks, as well. Most of the time any issues can be taken care of easily with a San Francisco locksmith and in case there are any defective products this is a great time to become aware of them.

It is a good idea to maybe leave a television or radio on to give the appearance that someone is home or watching the house. If you don't want to leave these on full time there are timers that can be purchased from many stores that can be set to turn on at random times in order to further convince that someone might be home. Indoor and outdoor light can also be set to timers and these are great deterrents.

Remember that the best protection is in the confirmation that someone is home or watching, so having a neighbor come by is a very good idea. This way is you are gone for days or weeks they can collect newspapers, mail or any packages that have accumulated which advertise that no one is home. You can also have your mail and newspapers temporarily stopped from being delivered by contacting your local post office or going online and alerting you news carrier that you will be out of town.

If you have cars outside make sure that they are locked and no valuables are visible in side of them.

Be sure that all garage doors are in the down and locked position. Sometimes the manual pull can accidentally been activated and this unlocks the garage door allowing anyone to open it from the outside.

Safety in and out of the home is an ever increasing need for you and your valuables as well as any damage and harm that can occur. Being aware and taking the necessary steps is a great tool to aid in prevention of crime and theft.

For more information and ways to protect your home you can contact your local authorities as well as consultation with your residential locksmith about any higher security products you can use as home defense when you are home and away.
