How many people in this world sweat from places other than their underarms alone? The answer is many, many people, in fact just about everyone, and of these, quite a few people experience hand sweating, facial sweating and even head sweating. They can also experience sweating on their feet, their backs as well as sweating in their genital area.
Any and all of these places have the potential to be embarrassing for the person who suffers from sweating of these areas. For a person who has facial or even head sweating of course, it becomes even more difficult to disguise the fact, or even to deal with it. Why is this especially so for facial and head sweating?
For the simple reason that any other type of sweating can be more easily disguised, whereas head sweating (as in rivulets of sweat running down the face), is not so easy to mask. And even if the sweat doesn't roll off your face, it can have a different impact in that your hair can become damp and begin to smell of stale sweat. And that really is a problem for many people, because who wants to have a sweaty head?
Ultimately it's not only uncomfortable and lead to itching of the scalp, but it can in some very cases lead to unhealthy hair. Although one of the best ways to deal with a head sweating problem is to bathe regularly, using shampoos and such, this can also become a cause of the sweating.
For instance, unless you have very short hair, it can become detrimental to your efforts to control your head sweating to have a head of damp and dripping hair. This can and will promote more sweat to form, in which case all the trouble you went to, will become moot. And if you're using a hairdryer to take care of your damp hair, you then have thee problem of making your scalp too hot at which point it begins to sweat to help you cool off.
Of course, there are things that you can do to help you deal with, if not outright prevent head sweating. The most drastic of these measures should be consulted with, with your doctor. For other things as well, such as herbal treatments and remedies you might want to consult with your doctor as they will have a better understanding of your present state of health.
However when all is said and done, head sweating can be controlled. You just need a little time and perseverance, to find the remedy that will work for you. You might also want to stay away from wearing any headgear such as hats!
What is the ultimate cause for excessive sweating? Prior to that let us first differentiate hyperhidrosis from the regular excessive sweating: the latter is usually triggered by stress, physical exertion, emotion, and high temperature, while the former happens even when everything around the sufferer is normal. The cause of hyperhidrosis boils down to the origins of sweat – the sweat glands.
Physicians and scientists alike have argued that excessive sweating is due to overactivity by the sympathetic nervous system. This overactivity may be triggered by a couple of underlying medical conditions, which necessitate the need for advice from a medical professional. In a lot of cases sweating poses only a limited number of solutions. Among the problems associated with hyperhidrosis, facial or head sweating is the most difficult to manage. In people with palmar hyperhidrosis, a solution can be done by constantly holding a handkerchief. In people with plantar hyperhidrosis, the sufferer can apply foot deodorant or antiperspirant and ultimately conceal it. However, with facial sweating, everything cannot be hidden. Sometimes it can even aggravate the situation by damping the hair too much it can drip on to surfaces.
However, hiding hyperhidrosis will only pose temporary solutions. Sooner or later, the handkerchief and the footwear in those experiencing palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis will become awfully smelly. Those who try to cope up with head sweating through wearing caps and hats will suddenly find their clothing, their hats and caps – and their hair – very disturbing. These are just among the common dilemmas of the sufferers. How it affects the way they run their social life – that's just one of the many problems they are usually confronted with.
Hiding the problem will not solve the problem. Knowing the main cause is what will solve the problem.
Every person suffering from hyperhidrosis is highly probable to have an underlying medical condition – be it diabetes, hyperthyroidism, alcoholism, and the like. There are a lot of substances which can induce and influence sympathetic activity - stimulants that come in the form of certain foods and drinks – such as caffeine and nicotine. This can also be influenced by certain odors, and can be further exacerbated by emotional factors. It can also be hereditary in origin, passing down from one generation to the next. It can also be due to obesity.
Since facial sweating is the most visible among the other conditions of hyperhidrosis, it may be advisable to refrain from any factor that could influence and exacerbate the condition. And best of all, it is necessary to visit a physician to know the root cause and know how to combat the root cause. Abnormalities in body conditions are the main concern for knowing the cause of hyperhidrosis.
And as one proceeds with the treatment (as directed by the physician), it would also be good to eat the right foods, and not just decide on buying anything from anywhere. Some antiperspirant creams may not work well and instead would only alleviate the situation. To combat the smell facial and head sweating leaves on your hair, take a bath everyday and use the right shampoo which will fight bacteria and as well treat your hair nice. Facial sweating may pose a lot of problems, but these can be given solutions. Patience and perseverance may help a lot in conquering this predicament.
