Is Your Acne Getting You Down
by Jennifer King, Jen
Acne is a skin problem that can leave you feeling stressed and depressed. Your face is the first feature that almost everyone will look at first, and for some, their face is their most embarrassing feature. The one thing you must do when you're suffering with acne is stay positive, and make small changes in your lifestyle to make you feel better inside as well as out.

Acne doesn't last a lifetime, and letting it get to you can in fact make it worse. Stress can have a number of effects on the human body, and acne is one of them.

Stress causes your immune system to weaken, and can also cause hormonal imbalances to appear or magnify. Your immune system needs to be strong to fight off infections, and acne is an infection of the skin. Hormonal changes is the biggest cause of acne in teens so stress will make these changes worse so your acne will get worse.

Exercise is a great stress reliever. It raises endorphin levels in your blood and these give you a natural high so you feel better. Exercise also gets everything in your body moving faster. This includes your blood and the expelling of toxins.

Sweating expels many toxins from your body, and these toxins can play havoc with your skin and internal organs. Exercise will tone your body as well, and that will give you a reason to feel better about yourself.

Get proper rest, and that means to aim for at least 8 hours sleep at night. A tired body will become stressed and easily irritated, and this will show in the way your skin looks. When you start exercising regularly you'll get better quality sleep.

Eating a healthy diet that is low in fat and high in nutrition will help your skin glow. Poor skin is a sign of poor nutrition. Plenty of fruit and vegetables are needed as a good foundation for a healthy body.

Trying to combat your acne with a healthy lifestyle will work a lot more effectively than any magic potion or lotion you can purchase. Advertisers play on the way that people feel about their skin ( especially teenagers ), and this hype gets them a lot of sales.

These products can also be very harsh on your skin, and in some cases can make acne worse. Dry skin is just as bad as oily skin, and if you're a sufferer of acne neither is any good.

Drinking plenty of water will keep your skin supple and hydrated. Water will not only keep your skin hydrated, but it will help to flush out toxins from your body so your internal organs have less work to do.

Your skin can be looking better in a very short while with a few simple lifestyle changes, and if you stop expecting miracles from the latest Acne cure. Before you know it, you'll be feeling better, and have healthier looking skin.
