Unfortunately closet dehumidifiers are something people dont think about until its too late and the damage has already been done. Unless you are one of those proactive people that has seen the damage damp and moisture can do to clothes. Closets can be a breeding ground for musty smells and humidity and the only way to protect your clothes is to regularly aply the right type of dehumidification technique.
In most cases, closet dehumidifiers do not need an electric outlet in order to function. Many of them use gels, salts, or other moisture absorbing materials to absorb moisture straight out of the air. Eventually, the material will become saturated with moisture. When this happens, most closet dehumidifiers are made so that you can either set them in the sun to dry out or plug them in and let them discharge the moisture.
On some models there is an indicator window with special "moisture meter crystals" that change from blue (when dry) to pink (when wet) to indicate when the unit needs to be "re-newed". The unit will adsorb approximately 6 ounces of moisture (depending on humidity levels this should take between 3 - 8 weeks). Once the moisture has been adsorbed it cannot leak or spill.
Installation of closet dehumidifiers is very simple. Usually you will get brackets or rungs you can mount the device on and it will just hang there and do its thing. Some people even buy several and mount several on each wall of the closet to maintain an even coverage of protections around the closet. Just hang the unit in a closet, or you can place it in other small enclosed spaces, and it will start to adsorb moisture. There are no batteries required nor cords to plug in, the unit works without power.
They do not appear to be too expensive to buy but whatever you pay will definitely be worth its and more for the preservation of anything in your closet and also the structure of the closet itself.
As you can see, closet dehumidifiers are something that is often necessary for the preservation of property and home. The good news is that they are widely available and many makes and models. You definitely have to find the one you like, buy it, and put it in your closet by the specifications of the manufacturer. The result will be a more hospitable closet for your storage needs and will save you buying a new wardrobe every year.
I can't understand why anyone who has diabetes wouldn't exercise and watch what they eat.
The down side is that you may have to get an entire new wardrobe since exercise and healthy eating causes weight and size reduction.
When it happens, people tell you how great you look and that motivates you even more.
Other side effects: you'll also sleep better and feel more rested than before you started walking and eating better.
I prefer walking outside, especially when the weather is nice. I even designed a walking path about 2.5 miles long around my neighborhood; part flat and part hilly.
You'll find that a walking program helps more than your body.
