From EBay Avoidance To EBay Fanatic In One Magical Step
by Ben Needles, Ben
I didnt save money with eBay. I didnt even use eBay. My nephew said it was a generational thing, but the truth is I didnt enjoy eBay. I felt intimidated ... it took too much time and I always felt there was a better deal I was missing because I got tired of searching the listings. I wanted the deals everyone else bragged about, but it wasnt worth my time. Have you ever felt any of those things?

So, how did I go from eBay avoidance to an eBay fanatic? Ill tell you. Last winter I was working with a Company that was marketing an incredible, new video conferencing tool. As we were merrily going down that path, KAPOW, BOOM, Hold on to your computer, Robin, another piece of cutting edge software fell on our heads. It didnt hit hard enough to knock us unconscious, but hard enough to send us down another path. That path has been named My Shopping Genie.

My Shopping Genie is a little widget (visual objects on the screen that can be manipulated with the mouse and keyboard.) that displays in small pictures, what is available on eBay that very moment every time you do a search with any search engine. Im sure that sounds a bit confusing, partly because there is nothing to compare this to as it is brand new technology. Frankly, its hard to put this little marvel in words; you just have to experience it to really get it.

Ill try to illustrate it a bit better with a story. At Christmas time, we were beta testing it so it was on my computer. I was doing some other work and realized Christmas was getting really close and I hadnt done much shopping. I went to Google to look for a cashmere scarf for my son. Typed it in and on the search it showed Macys $116.00, Target $89.00 and when I looked at my screen, specifically the bottom right hand corner where the widget resides it showed there were 92 scarves on eBay. By clicking on the widget I was able to view a window with small pictures of each scarf available on eBay at that very moment.

Now, I was pretty un-savvy when it came to understanding the types of things on eBay. I had mistakenly thought all items on eBay were used, yet here in front of me were all these pictures of cashmere scarves with price tags on them!

No Kidding, I said to myself. As I clicked on one of the pictures with a price tag, it displayed a $6.50 price from Scotland (which meant good quality to me). It didnt take too long to figure out the savings I was getting between the $116.00 at Macys and $6.50 on eBay.

I actually won the bid for $9.50 and it really is a beautiful scarf. Of course, I saved bundles on Christmas. And it was so easy, such fun to eyeball all the pictures and only click on the items that interested me. I felt so powerful. I finally felt like I had conquered eBay and I knew I was getting the best deal every time too. Hoo-hah.

And I must say one of the best features for me, besides saving gobs of money is the amount of time it saved me - not just over shopping offline, but saving tons of time even trying to do eBay the old fashioned way. It is so easy. One click enlarges the picture I select and shows me how much time is left on bid and the dollar amount, a second click shows an even larger picture with hours, minutes and seconds left, seller info, how many bids, shipping costs and if I want to bid on it, one final click gets me into the eBay site bidding. Oh, did I forget to tell you it is FREE? To find out more about this little marvel visit www.milliongeniegiveawayonline.com. Happy Hunting!
