Are Happy With Your Career?
by Tony Jacowski, Ton
Fear of the unknown is the number one reason that unhappy workers don't seek employment elsewhere. Most of us rely on just getting a paycheck and therefore do not want to upset that balance. We are afraid even to look at other opportunities - and that same fear inhibits professional growth.

Others simply cannot find the time to even think about making changes. We are afraid not of failure but of success. This destructive cycle can leave you feeling empty and with regrets in the future about not even trying.

Pursue Your Dreams

No matter how long you have been in your present career, it is possible to make major changes. What are you truly passionate about? Believe it or not, you can make money while doing what you love. The trick is not to be afraid of change and go after your dreams.

Take a look inside yourself and you'll be surprised by what you find. Don't sell yourself short. Everyone has special or unique talents, so use them to your advantage.

Remember that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Let Go Of Your Inhibitions

There is no reason to go broke in an attempt to pursue your dreams. Careful planning, proper training, and good old-fashioned hard work can help you make your dreams a reality. It will take some sleepless nights but it's possible to keep your present income while working on a new, and perhaps, a more profitable venture.

Network with other entrepreneurs and get advice on what worked for them. The more ideas you have the better prepared you will be for success. Don't neglect your education. Enroll in a program at your local community college and earn diploma or certificate. Doing these things is a step in the right direction.

Making A Seamless Career Transition

Good preparation is the name of the game here. Decide what you want and then develop a plan of action to get things done. The first step is usually the hardest one but once you leap that first hurdle keeping moving forward. Write a business plan and make a timeline of when you would like to have things done. If you get off- track, don't get discouraged - just pick up and keep going.

Your business plan should serve as a guide to give your vision direction. You might want to try and moonlight on the weekends in your new career as this will give you a taste as how you would like to pursue the profession full-time.

Things will not happen overnight, but persistence will pay off. Slow and steady will get you to where you want to be.
