The Dream Of Buying A Vineyard
by Ben Needles, Ben
Living the dream is something we all think about now and then, some spend hours looking through websites trying to find the perfect life and dreaming of how to get there.
Buying a vineyard seems to be high on many peoples list, but how is it doable, is it really a life that many can convert to?
Lets start from the beginning. Having a vineyard is no small task. No matter if it is a big vineyard you buy wiht loads of emplyees or if it is a smaller organic vineyard that you plan to run on your own. Most vineyard owners will tell you that it is 18 hours a day 7 days a week and a constant struggle to make the ends meet. Not only do you have to worry about the abvious thigs like actually selling the wine you produce, you also have to worry about pest control and interest rates at the same time a s wheater is a big factor. The simple thing of to much rain in the wrong time can ruin your whole crop, no income that year!
Are you really willing to spend your time and savings on this type of gamble? investment wise you have to see that you are buying not just a business but also a life style, the cost of a vineyard oftne includes a home of lower or higher quality, so you normally have to move there and live there for the full time.
Take time before you choose a life change, make sure you have alot more money then your budget tells you is needed and make sure you are really willing to move out to no mans land and put in the owkr that is requiered! If you can do this, then you can start looking for your dream property for that perfect vineyard!
So where to choose a vineyard? Well that is donwn to your own personal wishes. You buy a vineyard in South America for very little money and still get lots of land, but the property might not have a house of the qaulity you would like, while buying a vineyard in France might get you a lovely castle but very little land planeted with vines. Then again a bootle of wine made in a French vineyard will most likely fetch a much higher pice then one made in Argentina. At the end of the day it is much down to your own personal belifs in what is best for you. Good thing to remember is that a vineyard with a large house on it will also cost so much more in mainteneance of the property then a small and simple but maybe very romantic property in South America will do.
Spain has vineyards for sale in most price regions, you can by a small organic vineyard wiht very simple living for less then 50 000 euros or you can find a well established vineyard wiht a large winery on for millions of Euros. Again it is down to what you plan and how your own finances look.
