Equipping Your Kitchen With Electrical Appliances - Where To Start?
by David Whelan, Dav
If you have built your new kitchen, or just moved into a new property, then you now have the daunting task of selecting all the electrical appliances you need to fully furnish your kitchen and equip it it properly. With the sheer number of products available on the market, it is undoubtedly a difficult task to select the appliances most suitable to you.

Firstly, its important to take into account the size of the space you have to work in. Is this a large space or are you restricted? This is the most important stage as it will determine the number of appliances, and the size of each one, that you are able to select for your kitchen. Most appliances, no matter what their purpose, are available in sizes ranging from small to super sized - a good example being the American style freezers that are becoming increasingly common place. It is therefore important to know the sizes you are able to select from before embarking on purchasing.

Next, you need to select the type and number of appliances you can have in your kitchen. To give you an idea of the number of appliances available, ask yourself do you need all of the following... Dishwasher, washing machine, spin dryer, cooker, grill, oven, fryer, slow cooker, microwave, fridge, and freezer. Unless you have an exceptionally large kitchen, you would have trouble fitting all these appliances in your kitchen. So its important to select the range of appliances you need, and not just every one. A good way to do this is to select combination appliances. For example a Combi Washer and Dryer or a Fridge Freezer.

Remember that your fridge freezer may need to be plumbed, depending on its size. Any dishwasher and washing machine will also need to plumbed. This can severely limit the options you have available when positioning your appliances and also the storage you are placing in your new kitchen. Take into consideration which appliances need to be near to a water pipe, which need to be placed next to an electrics mains and which can be stand alone. At this point you should be ready to begin selecting your appliances.

To ensure you get a good deal for your appliances, shop around. Don't just take the first deal that you come across. Chances are if one supplier has reduced the price of an item, then others will have done the same. Make sure you take into consideration the delivery cost when it comes to the final price as well. Many suppliers add this on to the final price. Look for stores that offer free delivery or rapid delivery options.
