How To Care For Amtico Flooring
by Derek Rogers, Der
Amtico is constructed by fusing together six layers of PVC; this ensures that the flooring will be suitable for any room of your house from high traffic areas through to wet areas such as bathrooms and kitchens.

It is available not only in a wide choice of designs but also a choice of textures so you will find a solution for every need. Amtico tiles are all manufactured at the same thickness so you can mix and match any combination to create your own unique flooring design.

It will give you the aesthetic beauty of natural flooring materials but with none of the disadvantages such as mould growth or the chance of being easily damaged. It will not even suffer damage from stiletto heels!

Caring for your Amtico flooring is extremely easy; it takes very little effort to keep clean and looking like new. Regular sweeping or vacuuming to remove dust and grit from the floor is the basic step to caring for your floor. Depending upon the colour of your flooring and your family's lifestyle a regular weekly wipe with a damp mop is generally all that is necessary. (Of course if your son traipses mud from his football game over the floor on a regular basis you may need to repeat this step more often.)

The weekly cleaning regime (or mopping) for any of the finishes or textures of Amtico flooring consists of firstly sweeping or vacuuming, then applying Amtico Cleaner that has been diluted 1:30 either with a spray bottle or a damp mop. Finally mop the floor keeping your mop as dry as possible. Remember to rinse your mop frequently and change the solution in your bucket (if you are using one) as soon as it becomes dirty. If there are any scuff marks etc. that are not removed by the routine clean you can gently rub them with a scouring pad designed for non-stick cookware (a teh scouring pad.)

Dressing your new Amtico floor is not necessary unless you want a semi gloss finish instead of the standard matt finish. If you do need to apply Amtico dressings ensure that the floor is clean and that any old dressing is removed with Amtico Floor Dressing Remover.

The only other care necessary is to try to protect from potential sources of damage; use felt pads glides or rollers under furniture feet to prevent scratch damage. Furniture cups are recommended under heavy furniture and appliances to ensure that indentation damage does not occur.

Use fibre mats rather than rubber or latex backed mats as these materials may stain the floor, as can asphalt and some paints and shoe polishes.

Of course do not allow matches, cigarettes or very hot items to come into contact with your floor.

Your new Amtico floor is a valuable addition to your home, correct care and maintenance will ensure that it retains its beauty and functionality for many years to come.
