It is important to be on time to meet your car carrier, as any delays may affect other customers that are waiting for their pickup or delivery. Make sure that the meeting location is clearly defined and easy to access for both you and the carrier. Receiving Your Vehicle
When your vehicle arrives at the location, take some time to perform a detailed inspection of the vehicle. Make sure you bring your damage documentation and a copy of the original inspection pickup report in hand.

While inspecting your car, check for any cosmetic or mechanical damage that was not noted in the original report. Be sure to inspect underneath the vehicle as well. If you find damage that is not on the original inspection report, note each mark of damage as exceptions and get the driver to sign it.

Bring your camera so you can document any additional damage and use the photographs as evidence to support your claim. If weather or lighting conditions do not allow proper inspection of the vehicle, do not accept it.

While car shipping is considered safe, damage can occasionally occur and it is important to understand how you can receive compensation for the damages. After having the driver sign off on the inspection report with the new damage, contact your car shipping company so they can reimburse you for the confirmed damages done to your car.

If for some reason you think that your car shipping company did not treat you properly, try to work it out with the company directly, as most companies will work quickly to resolve any issues. If all else fails with your claim against the company, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and contact The U.S. Department of Transportation to see if they can help.
