Did A Virus Cause The Stunning Tulip Flower Color?
by Steffen J.mia, Ste

The real irony is that the color mutations that created these beautiful flowers came as a result of a tulip virus. Anthocyanins seem to be tissue-specifically biosynthesized, resulting in formation of a color pattern between inner and outer parts of the tulip flower. The tissue specific regulation of anthocyanin biosynthesis may contribute to the color pattern formation in the tulip flower. The infected tulips have flowers with uneven color patterns and are known as Rembrandt or broken tulips. However, these Tulips are among the most beautiful that anyone has ever seen. Ironically, this is only possibly with an introduction of a virus!

Finally there are multi-flowered tulips where the stem divides into several smaller stems each carrying a smaller regular tulip flower. The main stem of multiflowering tulips branches into secondary stems. Handle is a stylized flower, with copper stem and pewter tulip flower. Unusual, multiflowered sweet-as-candy tulip produces a rich bouquet of four to six full-sized flowers per stem.

The tulip flower is a fast-growing plant with bright green leaves that resemble tulip flowers in profile and turn golden yellow in fall. It may grow to a height of nearly 30 meters and in summer develops beautiful large, green, orange or lemon-coloured flowers resembling tulips. Viridiflora Tulips produce long-lasting flowers which have prominent green markings on their petals. When planting tulips with perennial flowers or shrubs, take into account the mature sizes of the perennials and shrubs. Many events are held here such as a contest of tulip planting in group-pattern, sales of cut tulip flowers or vegetables.

Just remember that when you plant tulips you are not just planting a flower. A tulip grown from seed will usually bear only a passing resemblance to the flower from which the seeds were taken. A tulip in flower Tulips can be grown in either of two ways: through offsets or seed. In spring, remove the flowers of tulips and daffodils after they fade to prevent seed formation. They are particularly prized for their beautiful, traditional "tulip" flower shape.
