Also, thrift stores or second hand stores also receive a lot of donations of used patio furnishings that they will want to get rid of. They too will put the items on sale and give you a great deal on them.
The end of the season is also a great time to buy if you want to plant perennial flowers. Since you will be able to enjoy your new furnishings for at least a month, go ahead and set them up when you get them home.
If you have purchased any perennials, make sure you get them planted as quickly as possible. They have probably been in the same pot for a long time and are most likely root bound. Just take them out of the pot and break up the root ball a little bit before you plant them into the new pot or the garden. This will give the plant room to spread out its roots and when it starts growing next year, it will look great.
Patio décor and accessories are practically given away at the end of summer. You'll find items such tiki torches and citronella candles marked down 70% and more. Late summer or early fall is also a great time to purchase that new grill you've had your eyes on. It will also be discounted.
Another thing to look for at the end of the summer is any supplies you might need if you are planning on building a new patio. For example, paver stones, sand, and any other seasonal supplies are not in high demand during the winter, so home improvement stores will put this stuff on clearance. The only catch is to make sure you can get enough supplies to finish your project so that you aren't going from store to store looking for more pavers and wasting the money you saved on gas.
