5 Common Ways To Detoxify Your System For Better Health

We all know that toxins are becoming harder to avoid all the time. It is almost impossible to avoid adding dangerous chemicals to our bodies at an ever increasing rate as we are exposed to them in the air we breath, food we eat and water we drink. The key is to find an effective way to get rid of the toxins as fast as they are added. Luckily there are several effective options to choose from.

We are constantly bombarded with chemicals in the foods we eat, liquids we drink and even the air we breathe. Bentonite, Benzene, Benzoic Acid, BHA, BHT, Bronopol and Butylparaben may not be common terms in our vocabulary but they are relatively common toxic substances found in cosmetics, foods and cleansers. This is bad enough but there are 25 more letters in the alphabet.

Luckily our bodies are pretty good at eliminating the harmful chemicals that get added to our systems daily. Most are filtered out in the excretory system through the filtering work done by the kidneys, the liver and sweating. Problems arise when this system of natural detoxification gets overwhelmed by the increasing rate of exposure to toxins. Common problems include digestive and respiratory ailments along with other serious health problems.

The good news is that there are ways to help your body rid itself of accumulated poisons, such as: 1-Changes in diet 2-Herbal body wraps 3-Herbal supplements 4-Cleansing plans 5-Saunas

1-Often people will change their diets either temporarily or for extended periods of time in an attempt to cleanse their systems. Many of the toxins we accumulate come from the food we eat. Processed foods are famous for their toxic content but even more natural foods like fruits and vegetables contain pesticides, herbicides and artificial hormones among other things.

Many detox diets consist of fasting, eating more organic whole foods including mostly vegetables and drinking lots of pure fluids especially water. These diets will flush out your system but should be used only for short periods of time. It is not recommended that anyone maintains these eating habits for extended periods of time. Some of the essential nutrients needed for a healthy diet are missing and need to be replaced after a detoxification style diet.

2-Covering yourself with mixtures of salts, clay, water and other ingredients such as oils is a common recipe for a detoxifying body wrap. Problem toxins reside in the cells of the body and the theory behind a body wrap is that the salts will draw these toxins out as it draws out water from the skin.

This generally involves lying in a room covered with this mixture for up to an hour or more. There is an easier way that I will discuss later on. It is important to drink plenty of fluids afterwards to replace the water that has been flushed from your body.

3-Herbal supplements, normally in the form of pills, can also be used to cleanse your body. Increasing the level of antioxidants, certain vitamins and minerals can have an effect on the way your body functions. This change can include the more efficient excretion of toxins. It becomes a fairly tricky business when you alter the basic chemistry of your body so before embarking on a journey of this nature be sure to have a complete understanding of the entire process. Your doctor, not just the Internet, should have a major role in whatever plan of action you choose.

4-Some people go to a spa or seek out an established program when they want to use a tissue cleansing plan. Many plans consist of regimented daily schedules of enemas then cleansing drinks and liquid supplements. This series is repeated periodically during the day. Lasting a week or more, this method obviously takes commitment, dedication and a carefully calculated program. You need to be sure the program comes from a reputable source and is administered with sufficient guidance.

5-Probably the easiest (that is what makes it my favorite) and most relaxing detoxification method involves the use of a sauna. They are surprisingly effective at detoxification. The excretory system is the primary method of toxin removal in the body. We generally think of solid waste removal and liquid waste removal in the form of urine when thinking of the excretory system. It turns out that sweat is also a major method of removing waste. By accelerating the sweating process the efficiency of toxin removable is greatly increased. Toxins are concentrated in the cells as fluid is removed in through sweating. The longer and more intensely we sweat the more concentrated toxins are also removed. A sauna is a great way to produce the intense sweating needed to remove the poisons.

The first fluids removed in sweat is the fluids found surrounding the cells. As that non-cellular fluid is reduced it is replaced with inner-cellular fluids. These are the fluids with highly concentrated amounts of toxins. When this fluid is "sweated out" so are the toxins.

As you can see there are various methods that can be used to cleanse your body tissues of accumulated toxins. They all have good and bad points to consider. The question of which is most effective is important. The answer is that they can all be effective but only if actually put to use. It is a little like the question of which diet is best. Most can be effective if you actually follow them consistently but none of them will work if you don't. Unlike most of the methods mentioned above, consistent sauna use can become a ritual that you look forward to instead of a chore to be avoided. Today's technology has made it practical and affordable for almost anyone to get a home sauna. It is surprisingly inexpensive and easy to set up a sauna at home. Kits or complete units can even be ordered online and delivered right to your doorstep.
