Waiters Knives As Promotional Items
by Matt Franks, Mat

Who would benefit from using a waiter's knife as a promotional item? Anyone who has any contact with waiters, for starters. If you are the owner of a restaurant, equipping your serving staff with waiters' knives that have your restaurant's logo on them can reinforce your diners' impression that they are enjoying their dinging experience. If your serving staff is allowed to keep these implements and to carry them with them in their non-working life, they can carry them in their pockets much like pocket knives, because waiting tables is not the only time they may find themselves needing a blade, bottle opener, or corkscrew. Off duty or on duty, every time a member of your staff pulls out their collapsible waiter's knife, your elegant logo will be visible to all in the area.

However, it's not only restaurant owners who could benefit from supplying these useful promotional items to restaurants. Any supplier that serves an auxiliary role in relation to a restaurant can also be helped. This is a particularly good idea since a restaurant has many suppliers to choose from, and anything you can do to reinforce the wisdom of the restaurant's choice in using you as a supplier is good business. If you are the coffee supplier, or the laundry service, or the uniform supplier, or the cleaning service, or the accounting firm that does the restaurant's books, providing high quality and useful items that make it easier for the restaurant staff to do its job can only reinforce your value as part of their team.

Waiters' knives come in a variety of different styles and price ranges. You can get a beautiful stainless steel knife with a varnished wood handle, a plastic knife in a wide variety of colors, or a silver, all-metal knife with a particularly stylish curved blade. Each of these can have your business logo screen printed on them in up to four colors, or your brand can be engraved on the handle in a beautiful script, right next to your company's logo.

Waiters' knives can also make excellent gifts. They are often offered in wood or plastic cases with room for engraving or imprinting on the top. They make excellent gifts for your staff, of course, but they are also excellent gifts for almost anyone. Everyone occasionally finds himself or herself reaching into a pocket or purse looking for a blade to cut a string or a wrapper, or trying to open a bottle of beer that isn't twist-off. Bottles of wine on picnics often go unopened because nobody packed a corkscrew, but your waiter's knife can solve all those problems. And at those moments when the problem is solved, your business name and logo is right there in a potential customer's hand.
