The Need For More Than One Postcard Campaign
by Robert Johnston, Rob

The next postcard begins to get through a little more. I've starting to notice the companies name repeatedly and so I'm taking more notice of it. Eventually I'm picking up those postcards to see what they have to see. Eventually I'm reading the entire message, and eventually I'm thinking about that company when I need to buy something they sell.

This is what you can create when you go beyond a single postcard campaign. Never do just one wave of postcards, because if you do you'll end up failing to generate the kinds of sales I'm sure you were hoping for.

Postcards take time to really sink in. You often have to do wave after wave before people begin to remember you and stick with you.

Now, having so many waves of postcards can lead to higher costs for designing them, which is what drives many companies away from this, but really, if you plan ahead, this shouldn't be a concern.

What you do is set up some strong postcard templates right from the beginning. Because you know you're going to have multiple waves you make sure that you have your postcards designed all at once, and that you have your templates prepared for later use.

Now you can move onto your next postcard batch with greater ease because the design part of it is largely taken care of. Pick out one of your postcard templates and load it up with the information you need to. You can create and send out each wave of postcards in half the time it took you to send out the first wave.

You already have your list of addresses so you don't have that additional work. You already have your mailing system planned out so you don't need to focus any additional time on that. All you have to do is quickly make out your next postcard, get the printing done, and you're on your way.

This is what a truly effective postcard marketing push is going to consist of. Most people just need to see a company name multiple times before the name really starts to sink in. You can't expect a single postcard to get the job done, and because postcards are so cheap to print, it won't break your budget to do multiple waves of them.

If you're going to take the time to set up a single batch of postcards you might as well get the full job done and prepare yourself for multiple runs.
