An interactive website which enables viewers to track the migration of elephants, whales and polar bears has been launched. The LoveEarth.com site allows people to follow the fortunes of animals featured in the BBC's natural history film Earth, narrated by Patrick Stewart, which is released next month.
The progress of elephants migrating from the Kalahari to the Okavango Delta in Botswana and humpback whales making their 4,000 mile trip from the equator to the Antarctic can be tracked by satellite through Google Earth.
The site also features information about the animals, behind the scenes insights into the BBC Worldwide film - made by the team that filmed Planet Earth - and conservation messages from Stewart and other celebrities including Will Young and Graham Norton.
Earth's director Alastair Fothergill said: "Earth is a timely reminder of our planet's fragility.
"We hope loveearth.com's incredible images and stories inspire people to fall in love with the world around them and protect our planet's future."
