Surviving The Pain Of Infidelity
by Alex Archer, Ale
Perhaps the marriage hit a dry spell, or perhaps some painful and challenging times came along. Suddenly you find that you do not spend much time together anymore, and there is little to talk about. How do you know if this person might be having an affair? Would you recognize signs of infidelity if your spouse were cheating on you?

Some signs of infidelity are subtle, while others are more obvious. For example, your spouse may make excuses about working late or being detained at an event, which he or she is attending without you. Perhaps your partner begins returning home with rumpled or disarrayed clothing. Sometimes, he or she may even begin to kiss you differently or respond differently to you during times of intimacy.

With some people, maybe they start to be less responsive to your needs. Granted stress can make someone behave the same way, but stress does not call your spouse and hang up on you when you answer the phone. If you get phone calls that automatically bring up a red flag, you may need to investigate.

For some people, confronting them may be the option to take. If confrontation does not bother you and you want the answer right away, then simply ask your spouse if they are cheating on you. They might tell you the truth. If that does not work for you then option number two would be to hire a private investigator to follow your spouse around.

If you chose the latter, when you find out your spouse is cheating on you, how are you going to handle it then? Forgiving and forgetting infidelity is tough, but so is a divorce.

Many alternatives to divorce are available, and a trained marriage counselor can help you work together to save your marriage. If your faith is important to you, make sure that your counselor shares your faith. The two most important concepts to remember in achieving this goal are transparency and honesty. Talk about it, and resolve that you want the marriage to continue and that you want healing after affair.

If you are really concerned about your spouse being unfaithful to you, just confront them and have an honest up front conversation. If communication has always been a strong point for your marriage, this will not be a problem. It is always best to try to work through your problems instead of letting all the hard work you have done with your marriage go down the drain.
