What Are Some Good Throat Sprays To Prevent Snoring?
by Lisa Davies, Lis
If you were to do an internet search of throat sprays to prevent snoring, you're going to get a wealth of options returned to you. Many promise to alleviate snoring and the scratchy feeling that goes along with it. But how do throat sprays to prevent snoring actually work, and do any of them actually do what they promise?

Most cases of snoring occur because the tissue in the back of the throat and sinuses get dry during the night, and when air passes over this tissue it causes it to vibrate, making the noise we call snoring. There are many devices that can help you stop snoring, from special pillows to nose strips to mouthpieces you wear. But some prefer throat sprays to prevent snoring because they are so much easier than all of that, and because they give that added moisture and coating in the throat.

Most snoring sprays contain elements such as peppermint oil, menthol, and eucalyptus oil as well. This oil coats the throat and keeps it moist all night, and when the throat is moist it keeps you from snoring and alleviates that dry, scratchy feeling as well.

Some throat sprays to prevent snoring promise to relax the muscles in the back of the throat, and while this might help to alleviate snoring, you do want to be careful of using these to such a large extent that your throat becomes too relaxed. It's possible for this to interfere with your breathing. It's always recommended that you use those that just coat your throat instead. Some throat sprays which are used to stop snoring can go too far in the job that they do!

Rather than recommend certain brands, it's best to allow you to simply read the ingredients and make your own personal decision about which would be best for you. You might also have certain preferences as to the type of oil you prefer; some people don't care for eucalyptus and may prefer peppermint instead. Some are also thicker than others, and this is a good thing. The thicker the spray, the better it is for you. There are many snoring throat sprays on the market so there is sure to be one that will work for you, and that you don't mind using as well. Try a few brands, and you're sure to find the one for you.
