Recognizing When It Is Time For A Change
by Tony Jacowski, Ton
The thought of changing jobs might seem like a more pleasant aspect than a stressful one, but most people get into a comfort zone and are generally reluctant to change. This is because most people know what to expect from their current job, even if it is boring and tedious. A new job might seem like an exciting and welcome endeavor, but it brings with it a lot of risk factors and 'what-ifs'. What if you don't get along with your new boss? What if you aren't any good at your job? What if the company has to lay off employees and the new recruits are the first ones to go? With all these questions in mind, changing jobs is certainly not an easy process.

Nevertheless, you can be sure that there are sound reasons for a person to move on; and most of the time, switching jobs brings about positive results.

Common Reasons For Changing Jobs

-Low Job Satisfaction - One of the biggest reasons why people decide to switch jobs is because they are not happy with their current one. Job dissatisfaction is ranked as the number one reason why people leave one job for another. So, if your job does not satisfy you and leaves you bored all the time, then it's probably time to move on.

-More Money - Money is another common factor for moving from one job to another. Money does matter, especially if you are being underpaid and can't make ends meet or if you have financial goals that are in need of a better source of income. Leaving one job for another one that pays better is a good enough reason to move on.
-More Challenge - If you're looking for a challenging job and your current job isn't providing any interesting work, then it's probably time to start looking for another job.

Even if your reasons for changing jobs are good enough, don't just jump at every opportunity that comes your way. Searching for the right job will reveal more opportunities than just one and you will get the chance to weigh all the pros and cons of each job offer. Yes, every job will have its own quirks, but that doesn't mean you should grab the first job that comes your way. Exercise caution and do your homework - you will certainly be rewarded!
