Is A Rollercoaster An Art?
by Musa Aykac, Mus
Wherever you look, if you notice it or you don't the whole world is made of art. Whether you are looking at a great contractual art such as the Eiffel tower, or a food art such as the Big Mac burger. Art can come in any form shape or size, big or small or fat or thin. So can we class a rollercoaster as an art form? Well abit of basic insight about coasters are the first rollercoaster was developed in the late 1885's, rollercoaster's are specially designed to consist of a track and train which move at great speeds with loops and sharp turns, to give the rider extreme fear.

Rollercoaster's can be classed as an art of a great form, not only that but they are also classed as an ingenious science. A designer of a rollercoaster must be able to get every little aspect correct such as parameters, kinematics and rate of acceleration as the human body can only stand a certain amount of G force applied at one time. If a rollercoaster was not built with science in mind it could cause major injuries and even minor injuries such as whiplash.

Putting aside the science, a rollercoaster is one of the greatest art forms that have ever been created from the sheer magnitude of how loops and tracks are designed are actually quite mind blowing. Recently rollercoaster's have taken a new art form, they are no longer about just about the thrills but they are designed with a theme in mind. For example if you go to Disney Land you may come across one of the greatest themed rollercoaster's in the world which is called Space Mountain.

From the moment you are in the cue the ride has been themed to a space thrill ride. While you are queuing there is various different outbursts which increase the fear factor, once you finally get on the ride it is themed back like a rocket shuttle about to take off. Then when it gets released you are thrown into darkness where you see designed planets. The ride itself is one of the most impressive art forms that I have seen right down from the planning to the architecture. There fore I do believe that rollercoaster's should be way up there with the statue of liberty and the Mona Lisa pictures as one of the greatest art forms ever created.
