Books are a treasure that you can never measure, neither in terms of money nor in terms of material wealth. They are invaluable to us, and we just cannot put a price tag to them. They are great sources of comfort and inspiration, to all who open them up to seek the truth. In times of sheer despair, they can be a friend to you, comfort and inspire you to go on in life, and to overcome obstacles that may be hindering you. They are a source of knowledge and guidance, in helping you choose the right kind of path.

When we give someone a gift, we do so, primarily out of love for them. So, why not give them something that would help them, in the long and tedious race of life - something of great value? In terms of that, what greater gift can you give to someone you really care about, than a BOOK? Books are the greatest gifts for every occasion!

If you feel someone is going through certain personal problems, or professional difficulties, or is lonely, find a book that is apt, and one that could lift their spirits and encourage them in a positive manner. If your friend has just had a baby, gift her a book on childcare as that would be a great help to her, especially if she does not have elders around to support her. If your friend is a bad cook, gift her/ him some good recipe books, which will remain with them for years to come, and you can never know, those recipe books might some day become heirlooms, which could be handed over to generations for years to come.

You can wear a lovely jewelry set once in a while; curios would simply adorn the place; fresh flowers would die away; a cake could get eaten in less than a minute; but the words that you read from a great book will always remain recorded in your head, and sometimes, even inscribed on your heart.

Only one thing you must be careful about is, when you choose a book as a gift, ensure that it has quality work in it, inspiring and thought provoking, not something that is flimsy and has no real essence. Even controversial topics are okay, as long as it is not indecent in language. Selecting a particular type of book to gift your friend could be a good way to test the maturity level of your friend. You need to be aware of his or her interests, which would form the basis of purchasing the right book.

Selection is important. If you gift the right type of book, your friend may even treasure the book that you have gifted with much care, and he/she may diligently use it for personal growth and success. So, books are really the greatest gifts for every occasion.
