Cures For Snoring: Why The Best Cures For Snoring Are Often The Cheapest
by John Spencer, Joh
When it comes to cures for snoring, I've heard just about every wives tale ever spoken. From drinking more tea and less coffee to putting a humidifier in my room, nothing seemed to work. As a girl living in a house with several roommates, it was embarrassing to hear the people I lived with talking about how I saw logs every night. I decided to get serious about stopping my snoring, mainly because I was waking up with a killer sore throat every morning. I saw my doctor, and we went through the process of diagnosing what was making me snore in the first place.

It turns out there are many different cures for snoring, but each one only works on specific causes. For example, I'm a healthy weight and always have been. If I were overweight, however, one of the treatments would be to lose some excess poundage. The reason is simple: fat can cluster around your neck and put pressure on your throat, causing you to snore. If the weight is the problem, purchasing an expensive dental device to keep your tongue in the right place will do absolutely nothing for you. On the other hand, if it isn't the problem you'll be hitting the treadmill for no reason.

Out of all of the cures for snoring, it turned out that the one that worked best for me was quitting smoking. Every time I visited the doctor, he would tell me to quit. There are obvious health benefits to kicking the habit, but smoking has always been my favorite vice and I never really took the initiative to really put an end to it. When I started talking to my doctor about snoring, he again told me to quit and explained why. When you smoke, your throat weakens and tends to get clogged up. Because of those two things, I was snoring. Once I stopped smoking, I stopped snoring, and my roommates haven't made fun of me in months.
