Snoring Treatments: Which Snoring Treatments You Should Consider And Why
by John Spencer, Joh
If you're a perpetual snorer, there are several different snoring treatments you can look into that can give you relief from sore throats and sleepless nights. If you've got a bedmate, you've probably been told to roll over more times than you care to count. While it may seem ridiculous that something as simple as rolling over can put a quick end to the snoring, it's not really that outlandish once you look at what it physically does to remedy the situation. When you're lying on your back, your tongue has a natural tendency to roll back towards your throat. By rolling over and sleeping on your side, gravity pulls your tongue to the side of your mouth and away from your airway. Thus, the snoring is reduced.

Other snoring treatments can be purchased at your local grocery or drug store. I'm sure you've seen the little boxes of nose strips that you put over the bridge of your nose. These don't work for everyone, but at under $10 a box they're at least worth a try. These sticky, springy strips open your nasal cavity to allow air to flow through easier. As a result, you're less likely to rely on the air coming in through your mouth, which reduces the likelihood of snoring. If those don't work and you're a smoker, you might want to look into picking up a nicotine replacement product. When you quit smoking, there's less mucus buildup in your throat, another source of loud vibrations.

When you've exhausted all of the cheap and easy snoring treatments (including losing weight!) and none of them have given you the results that you need, it might be time to look into seeing a doctor. You might need surgery to put the problem to rest, or maybe even a custom made dental device to keep your tongue away from the back of your mouth.
