by Stanislaw Pena, Sta
Poland and its culture are a fascinating and fascinating combination of many influences. The cultures are time-honored, new, rustic and city cultures. Culturally, because of the diverse influences that came to the country each region are practically different from each other. There is a Poland A and there is a Poland B. One is underdeveloped and the other is not as lively.

As expected Warsaw, Poland is basically an island in itself. It is full of life far from the impression many say it is. Warsaw in reality is a growing city. Poland and its culture are virtually wearing a veil of illusion. Because of the diverse influences the projected image may just be perceived. The truth is the country of Poland can be as rowdy and vivacious as any European country that has been through Communism, Social Realism and Germanic cultural influence.

It was during World War II with the invasion of USSR and Germany that the Nazis sought to get rid of the culture of Poland and its huge Jewish population in what is now infamously known as the Holocaust. During those times Poland was never at rest. And those chaotic times made a great influence on Poland and its culture.

The diversity made Poland a country of different regions. Each region is offering its own brand of culture. It was during the German occupation that was largely responsible for inhibiting all forms of cultural activity. In the suppression a new form of creativity was born. Poland and its culture innovations brought out the vibrancy that is Poland today.

But during the early years Poland experienced a lot of upheavals, revolutions and chaotic disorder. This resulted in the varied territorial aspects of Poland and its culture. Polish culture has been influenced by West and east. Nowadays you can see the western and eastern influences in the country's art, architecture and folklore. The country has its own famous people such as Pope John Paul 11, Marie Sktodowska Curie, Kazimierz Pulaski, Nicolaus Copernicus and Frederic Chopin.

Chopin in music, Jan Matejko and his paintings, academy awards winner is movie making Roman Polanski and a list of celebrities in other fields of art. While in the world of cuisine Poland made famous the Polish sausage and red beet soup. Traditional Polish desserts include polish doughnuts and Polish gingerbread.

The Polish people love to eat. They eat four times a day. And when they eat on the run they go to milk bars (bar mleczny) where cheap food can be found. Western style fast food such as pizza and burgers are also favorite food fares.
