[B1135]Buy Online Auto Insurance
by Jim Bassett, Jim

Whether you've just gotten a new vehicle or you're shopping for a new policy for an existing automobile, when you want to buy auto insurance, you may find the best deals online. All major automobile insurance providers have full service websites for your perusal. You may even find that there are some very inexpensive, lesser known insurance carriers that can suit your needs.

When you want to buy auto insurance, there are a number of factors that should go into your decision making process. The first thing that you should do is find an insurance company website that provides side by side comparisons for you for themselves and several other carriers. This way you can get the most information out of the least work and still make an informed decision.

Don't think that you need to buy your auto insurance from a brand name carrier. Just because their commercials tell you that only they can take care of you and your insurance needs, doesn't mean they are telling you the whole truth. The truth is, as long as you have the coverage that is required by your state to operate a vehicle, everything else is a matter of personal desire.

Find insurance quotes that are reasonable and affordable for your budget. You may want a lot of extra options but may not really be prepared to pay the high monthly premiums for them. When you're on a budget, try to find coverage that is more in the middle of the road. Don't settle for less than you need, but don't go overboard with what you want if it's going to put you in a financial bind.

Look at the available options on the policies that are in your price range. Many times, extras are added on that really don't do much for you, no matter what kind of driver you are. Make sure that you don't get weighed down with additions like this. Deductible is very important. If you have an enormous deductible, it doesn't matter how low your monthly premiums are. If you can't imagine coming up with the sum of money that is listed as a deductible, go with a different policy.

Medical expenses should be covered by your policy. If you are in an accident, you are going to need medical attention, possibly. Make sure you are completely covered, even for the worst case scenario. If you are the cause of a vehicle accident, you can also be held liable for the medical expenses of the other driver. If your policy doesn't provide adequate coverage, you could end up in court.

Many policies offer coverage for expenses related to a rental vehicle. This is something that most people shrug off and have no idea just what they're letting go of. It's incredibly expensive to pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle, especially when your only automobile is in the shop or even worse, been totaled because of a wreck. You'll also be responsible for paying for the rental vehicle of the other driver if you're found at fault. It's best to give yourself a little cushion in this area.

Regardless of what company you opt to go with, when you are going to buy auto insurance, consider the coverage, first and foremost and you'll be ready for whatever life sends your way.

These days, you can't turn on your TV without being confronted with a flurry of auto insurance commercials. Auto insurance has always been a very competitive industry, with one company trying to snatch customers away from the other. This made the process of getting straightforward auto insurance quotes frustrating and difficult.

Unfortunately, as the advertising and TV commercial war between car insurance companies is heating up, it isn't getting any easier to figure out what's going and where to get the best deal. You have a ditzy woman asking strangers what sort of deductible she should get. You have trust-inspiring characters with great voices telling you they are the "good hands" people. You have 3D cartoon geckos with Australian accents making absolutely no sense whatsoever. You have a cheery, flaky saleswoman baffle customers who walk into what must be an auto insurance store. You see unfortunate car accidents where some insurance company claims to help you more than the others. And there's this wad of bills with eyes starring at people. It's supposedly the cash you save if you pick that insurance company over the others.

The big problem with those commercials is that they make very little sense. They all claim to save you money. They all claim to be better, faster, and more concerned with you, the customer. That's all good and well, but since the commercials really don't say anything at all, and since many are really, really stupid, I wish they'd all save their money and stop this silly TV commercial war. All it does is cost a huge amount of money that I'd much rather see applied to lower premiums. And, just as a comment - how difficult could it be to come up with commercials that do not insult people's intelligence? As is, despite all the money spent, I can't remember which company claims what. I know that one company is the "Good Hands" people and that the gecko represents Geico, but that's about it.

That's a really frustrating situation as auto insurance comparison is serious business. Millions of Americans are on a quest to get the best deal possible. Cheap car insurance is almost impossible to find these days, even with a good driving record and a low risk profile. The answer would appear to be calling agents and getting auto insurance quotes from them. Problem is that it's difficult to describe everything over the phone and then compare different deals. And sales people can often talk you into signing up for a deal costing a lot more than you had wanted to pay, or you end up agreeing to buy coverage that you don't want or need.

There's a better way to get auto insurance quotes. Go online and do the comparison yourself. There are websites that let you enter your data and desired coverage, and then present the quotes from several insurance companies. This way you can compare for yourself, without any pressure at all. That makes a whole lot more sense than trusting a talking gecko on TV.
