The Nintendo Wii - Is It Really All That?
by Christine Pinkston, Chr

The Nintendo Wii is a first in the fact that you can still be playing video games but you need to be an active participant at the same time. That's right, no more sitting on the couch and zoning. You actually have to move around to get the game going.

The Nintendo Wii is a great way to spend some quality time with your friends and family. Before you know it, everyone will be laughing and having a great time. You might even find yourself involved in a bit of a friendly competition. It really stands out as an excellent way to pull a family together regardless of the age differences.

The games for the Nintendo Wii have quite a range. They go from suitable for 5 and up to only suitable for adults. The general audience ones are bowling and things of the such but have no worries, the combat ones are available as well for the grown ups.

While bowling on a video game sounds a bit boring, I think you will be quite surprised at how much fun it really is. It's like real bowling with a twist and is a great way to get a friendly completion going.

The Nintendo Wii offers many of the classic Nintendo games that you love like Donkey Cong and the original Mario Brothers. It also has a wide range of Nintendo games designed specifically for the Wii.

Wii Sports Resort is one of the best selling Wii games right now. It is a great all audience games that takes some patience and practice to learn. This is great for children as it teaches them patience when learning new things because they can constantly see an improvement as they are practicing.

The Wii Sports Resort includes multiple games. One of the games is archery. While that may seem very simple, a basic aim and shoot, they have actually made it a bit more difficult by making the target a moving one. It also includes a sword fighting game.

The Sports Resort game uses it very own controller so that when you are doing things like playing archery you actually have to draw back the arrow and release it like you would in real life.

Another thing you can get to go with the Nintendo Wii is the Wii Fit. This is a great way to do low impact exercises that range from aerobics (playing hula-hoop) to strengthen and toning your muscles (Pilates and yoga). It is almost like having a personal trainer right in your own living room.

Unlike regular exercise that tends to be boring and tedious, when you use the Wii Fit you actually get to play games and practice to get better. You can even turn it into a friendly competition because you are able to compete for the high score with friends and family even if you use them at different times of the day.

If you use it in the morning, a family member can use it at night and see what you high score was for the day and try to beat it. It just makes it more fun to exercise when you get to play at the same time.
