Starting a prosperous home based business is not the same thing as just starting an online business, or any other business for that matter. It may have a lot of similarities to starting a traditional business offline but there are still many differences. The competition is very stiff and tough for those trying to be successful at internet marketing.

You may have the best website, excellent prices and what you feel is a great product and you may still have difficulty getting your business off the ground if you don't have the right qualities for success. Although these things are very important towards helping you build a prosperous home based business, there are additional qualities you'll need for success.

Patience and persistence are two qualities you can't have too much of. When you're just starting off, things will be slow and it's going to take a while to develop a customer data base from your email list. Yes, you'll need an email list as this is where your customers are coming from.

One of the most important things you need to be successful in business is a good mindset, meaning you must believe in yourself. The correct mindset means you have confidence in your business as well as your ability to make it successful. This is one of the most overlooked qualities by aspiring entrepreneurs, and in my personal opinion, it ranks at the top of the list.

If you don't have a good mindset, you won't succeed at your business regardless of how good it appears to be. Mindset affects us in more ways than just in our job. Having the right mindset involves having self confidence in ourselves and believing we're as good as we can be. Any dreams you may have about becoming wealthy will not come true if you don't believe in yourself. This is known as the wealth creation mindset.

There are many more pieces of this internet marketing puzzle that need to be put together, but these definitely make for a good start.
