What are you hoping to gain from your network marketing business? Are you looking for some fast cash? Are you planning to take your time and build? You may be setting yourself up to be scammed if you don't have the right mindset. Find out how you can protect yourself from the fake internet gurus who are out to get your money.

I hear it from people all the time. They want to be successful at internet marketing. But, when you press them for details, what it really sounds like they are looking for is not the opportunity to build a lasting business, but rather a means of getting rich fast.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that there isn't money to be made in network marketing. If there wasn't, I wouldn't be in it myself. But to truly build a successful business takes time and effort.

So, do a little bit of soul-searching. What is it you are trying to achieve?

Are you desparate for some quick cash to get out of financial difficulties? Are you just looking for a cushion to help you through the dip in the economy? Are you trying to earn some Christmas cash, or money for some other specific purpose?

If this is what drives you, then you are probably better off NOT entering the network marketing arena. You can still do all of those things on the internet. But, you may want to look into affiliate marketing instead.

Network marketing, on the other hand, is a business built on relationships. It takes time to develop a business. You won't be an overnight success. In fact, most "overnight successes" will gladly tell you how many years it took them to achieve that status.

If you're determined to do what it takes in order to replace your full-time income; if you are looking for a way to earn money helping others; if you have something more at stake than just raking in the dough, then network marketing just might be for you.

A very wise man named Zig Ziglar coined the phrase "You can get everything you want if you just help enough other people get what they want." That is a great motto for anyone in network marketing. You truly can't succeed -- not in the long run -- unless you help others succeed too.

And here's the good news: it's that level of patience, persistence, and caring that will help insulate you from the fakes out there. Your lack of desperation will help you reign yourself in. You see, ALL sales copy sounds good. Every offer is time sensitive. There will always be only limited space available. The next offer will always be the one that will finally pay off.

You know the saying: fools rush in where angels fear to tread. If you have the right mind set, the right motivation, you won't be taken in, but you will succeed at network marketing. And then, wow! are you in for a wild ride!
