A Unique Corporate Identity Is Mandatory For A Business Success
by Vincent Platania, Vin

To the success of any business, corporate identity is very crucial. All the target audience of your business should see your business as a unique and different corporate entity, which is there in the market to fulfill their needs and necessities in the most cost effective way. Not only should your customers; your competitors and all other businesses in your corporate circle see your business as a very special and unique corporate entity. This can give a definite competitive edge to your business. But, creating such a corporate identity is not a one-day process. This process involves so much of groundwork and may take some months or even years to create a perfect corporate image.

For any business, irrespective of its size and the domain in which it is operating, logo forms a major part of the process of building a special corporate identity. Logo should reflect the mission, vision, growth plan and the values of your business. Most of the SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) see logo design as a very minor thing and they do not invest the deserved amount of money or time on the logo design. Remember, people remember company through logo. Hence it should be designed by a very professional designer and the higher management of your business should spend enough amount of time in discussing about the logo with the designer. Always the top-level management should make the final decision of the logo. It is not mandatory to have a graphic rich design as a logo. Many renowned companies like Microsoft and Oracle has got their brand names as logos.

Tag Line:

Once the logo is made, think of a tag line that perfectly goes with the logo. This should normally target towards your customers. The tag line should tell your customers why they should select you ahead of your competitors. Normally, tag line, company name and the logo design are considered as a part of the logo itself. More often than not the top-level management comes up with the tag lines. How ever, it is better done if the opinions of all the employees (If there are any) are taken into account.

Web Presence:

It is mandatory in today's digital world to have a web presence whether your business is an online one or not. The website should be very simple and easily navigable. It is advisable to have the website optimized so that at least the top search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN will list your website in the top priority list.

Advertising Campaigns:

The top-level management should design a very strong marketing and advertising campaigns by discussing with the concerned departments. But the budget should be fixed before the campaign starts. If not, there is a risk of spending too much amount of money than required for branding. The advertising campaign should include a perfect mixture of both online and offline marketing.
