Employment for registered nurses is forecast to grow faster than any other occupation through 2012 according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The role of the nurse can range from direct patient care to case management, overseeing quality assurance procedures, and legal or insurance management.

Registered nurses are required to receive a four year BS degree, a two year AS degree, or a 3 year hospital sponsored diploma program. In order to become eligible for employment, nurses are required to complete a state licensing exam.
