[C41]Calling Cards To Philippines
by Robert D. Thomson, Rob
Rechargeable calling card is a phone card to pay for phone calls. As opposed to the standard calling card, this card can be recharged after the amount of its credit is used up. These cards are particularly helpful for making long distance and international calls. They are usually used by students staying away from homes, trade people and by the people who travel regularly.

Usual calling card is a disposable one, which has to be replaced by a new one after the credit amount is used. Rechargeable calling cards are provided with what is called as a PIN, which is a permanent number. This PIN has to be used to make a call. Only the new balance is to be added and the same card can be used over and over again. Some of the rechargeable calling cards also offer what is called as a ?pin less? feature. Here there is no need to use the PIN every time to place a call.

A smart calling card is provided which recognizes the client by the phone numbers dialed using these smart rechargeable calling cards. A certain predetermined phone numbers can be registered, which when dialed will recognize one to be the user of a particular PIN. This is a aspect unique only to a rechargeable calling card. This makes telephony painless and speedy. Another helpful aspect of this calling card is ?Fast Dialing?.

The client can enroll frequently dialed phone numbers and just use a short code to call these numbers. This, once again makes it simple and fast to communicate with people. That it not all, there is one more helpful aspect that makes this card different from the natural calling cards. The amount to this card can be automatically recharged or ?topped up? after it reaches a certain low balance. This means a call will never have to be postponed for getting the card recharged.

This is done by instructing the service provider and linking it to credit card or a bank account or even PayPal. Yet another aspect is that, when a call is placed using a rechargeable calling card, the amount of chat time left to the user's credit is told by the service provider. This allows the client to arrange the expenditure for phone calls. Also an audible sign is given when one minute of chat time is left to balance.

Wide range of calling plans are presented for recharging the rechargeable calling cards. A calling plan can be selected keeping in view the given need of the client. The correct choice of the plan will allow the client to make calls at the lowest charge. It is important to know about the call rate and any other charges (if applicable) before going for a calling card.

The cost of call depends on the kind of calling plan selected. Once the calling card is billed, calls can be made from landlines and/or from cell phones. The phone service provider gives a toll free access number, a PIN number and a customer service number (for any assistance that one may need). In order to place a call, toll free number is dialed followed by the PIN, and then the telephone number of the the person to be contacted.

The French claim to have devised the calling card in the 17th century. The calling card became an important part of the upper class ritual of ‘paying calls' by the 1850s. These calls involved the elevation or depression in the social position. Therefore, even if they were meant for paying visits to the friends, the reason might not have been so trivial.

By the 1870s and 1880s, one could put across simple communication by folding down the corners of a calling card. The different parts of the calling card could be folded to convey different reasons of the visit. For instance, the entire left side of the card could be folded to say that s/he had come to visit the woman of the family. However, these were the inception of the calling cards and we are dealing with the cards that help us to establish communication over long distances in this age of the telecommunication boom.
