Plan Ahead To Make Getting Business Credit Easier

by : Robertbain

Don't let yourself get frustrated when it comes to getting the corporate credit you need. It isn't going to be a cake walk but it doesn't have to be something that sends you to the brink of insanity either. Do what you can for your business from the start so you can stop going in circles when it comes to getting that credit set up.

You want to have a business checking account in place. You can decide to have your own name on it and then the term DBA for doing business as below it and your business name. However, it is best to have a business checking account that doesn't have your personal name attached to it. This is because you certainly don't want it attached to any type of business credit you get as far as your personal assets being linked.

Open that checking account even while your business is still in the planning stages. Make sure you keep a decent balance in there. Get into the habit of writing checks from that account for everything business related. This way when you do get the business started you can apply for credit. You can use the date you opened your business checking account as your date of opening the business.

Do your research about lenders to approach early in the game. You don't want to submit application after application to any lender out there. You want to use the process of elimination to approach those that are most likely to offer you a business credit card and a line of credit.

Look for those lenders that have a reputation of working with new businesses. Since there is more of a risk involved you will expect the interest to be higher. However, you want to make sure you aren't working with a lender that is taking advantage of your needs. Many of them do and the fees and interest rates are absolutely ridiculous.

Always check out a lender though before you do anything with them. Most are legitimate but many of them aren't. Don't risk the integrity of your business because you didn't take the time to see what information the Better Business Bureau had on them. It doesn't cost anything to get the information but it can save you a ton of money to do so.

Since you do need to have corporate credit in place, you may as well get the best possible results. Remove some of the hassle from the process by planning in advance. It is going to take you some time initially but in the long run your business will certainly benefit. You don't want to spend any more time chasing corporate credit then you have to.

One you have your foot in the door, it gets easier from there. Make sure you protect your corporate credit so it isn't tarnished. You want to be able to get the credit you need later on without any hassles. As long as you have been responsible with what you have they will be greeting you with open hands to give it to you.
