About
When you are surrounded by Mother Nature's green foliage, a shopping centre is the last thing you thought you would come across. But in the case of Dempsey Road, now known asTanglin Village, it comes off as a nice discovery. Tanglin Village is a commune of South-East Asian furniture, art, antiques, carpets, wine and F & B stores in an idyllic setting. Everything about Tanglin Village – the location, offerings and experience –is exclusive.

History
Tanglin Village boasts a colourful history that dates back to the early 1800s, where it was a blossoming nutmeg plantation. Later in 1860, the cultivated area was cleared to make way for Tanglin Barracks, which provided lodging for the European military army. Between 1934 and 1936, the barracks underwent construction to contain several military offices, most notably, the SAF's Central Manpower Base. This area was commonly referred to as Dempsey Road until last year. It undertook the name “ Tanglin Village ” when Singapore Land Authority's ( SLA ) embarked on a re-establishment project to renovate the area into what it is today –a high-end retail town. At present, Tanglin Village houses over 30 businesses.
