This year, Bedok 85 market reopened after her long awaited renovation. One stall that never evades me is this Ah Balling stall, a nostalgic dessert that has been a must eat at 85 market
I ordered the ah balling in peanuts soup. The ah balling has several different ones and my favourite one has to the black sesame since it is the most flavourful of all the ones that I have tried and it is also not too sweet. The peanuts soup is quite special with the peanuts boiled to soft. Although it is peanuts soup, the soup did not taste too strongly of peanut. I am not sure if it is supposed to be like that, but I liked it the way it is.
this is the best round filled dumpling balls ever! i was expecting little but it turned out to be fantastic! the ginger soup was great. the dumplings were very very good too! better than most other places! almost like homemade! it\'s $2 for about 4 balls, i think... not cheap but it was really good. very large and perfectly made dumpling balls. can\'t see any ginger so the soup could be ginger syrup, but it was pretty good. the service was very good too. love this joint! recommended!
They serve pipping hot peanut soup base here. The peanut soup base never fail to satisfy the ahballing crave. Somehow soft yet firm and it melts in your mouth! The ahballing skins are thin, with generous amount of filling flowing out on your first bite. Pricing wise, $1.50 for 4 pcs. I find it quite reasonable. 4 will be just nice. Anything more than that will be too filling.

the family headed to fengshan food centre for some nice peanut soup. The peanut soup is one of the nicest I have tasted. They boiled the peanuts till very soft and smooth. the soup is not too sweet. though the soup is a little oily, probably from the peanuts. The tang yuan is very chewy, it is a little sweet but when eaten with the peanut soup, it is really good!
Ah Balling may not gather more queue than the bubble tea craze, but it always warm one\'s stomach and bring smiles with such simple food. This is a Hokkien version of Ah Balling in peanut soup. 2 soup bases are available - peanut soup and almond milk... we didn\'t try almond milk base ~ 5 flavours of Ah Balling are available - peanut, sesame, red bean, green tea, yam ... Our favourite are peanut and sesame The Ah Balling are soft and easy to bite unlike some other stores that we tried were tough to chew. The skin melts in our mouth too! The ingredients have a refine taste and blends well with the peanut soup which has the right percent of sweetness. The peanuts are specially treated and boiled that they looked as a whole in the soup but will slowly dissolve when eaten. Prices are economical too: 4 Ah Ballings with any soup base = $2 6 Ah Ballings with any soup base = $3 Spending: Approximately SGD 3(Other)
For just $2, you can buy a bowl of Ah Balling Peanut Soup at Bedok 85. The soup base is ginger soup which makes a good remedy for flu. The ginger soup is just right on the taste buds. It consists of 5 balls dumplings, choice of sesame or peanut. Both flavours taste as good, pampering your taste buds for more.Spending: Approximately SGD 2(Other)
After dinner, my stomach was not full. So I went in search for some desserts and found this stall. Ordered a bowl of Ah Balling with Peanuts and Sesame and that fixed my stomach! The peanut soup was really tasty and complements well with the dumplings. I will definitely visit this stall again. Spending: Approximately SGD 2(Dinner)
Tang Yuan or AhBalling are one of my favourite dessert to end a meal at bedok 85.
The ahballing here isnt exactly the same as what we'd buy at super market which we DIY ourself to boil in sugar syrub.
