The Different Types of Window Blinds. What you need to know about blinds before getting one and where to find them.

1. Venetian Blinds
The most popular are Venetian blinds. They are made from a large number of horizontal strips (slats that overlaps when closed), which are then connected in rows. These rows can be adjusted through 180 degrees by twisting a connected pole.

The blinds slats are either made of plastic, light aluminium, wooden and bamboo slats. They are extremely popular as you can adjust the slap to almost any angle to control the amount of light and sunshine coming in or going out.

2. Roller Blinds (Holland Blinds)
They are fabric rolled up or down without the slats. They need one rod, and the tube can be fastened according to your window frame. Rollers blinds are also suitable for offices and homes. They come in almost unlimited colours and materials (from blackout materials that will block light and heat to translucent and transparent materials). Giving your office or home a neat and organized look as it can match any decor. They are also durable, long-lasting and practical, making them a good fit for many window treatments.

3. Honeycomb Blinds
They are made up of unique hexagonal shaped cells which provides better insulation. These unique hexagonal shaped cells, hold still air in the pockets, making rooms warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Unfortunately, they are not popular in Singapore

4. Roman Blind
These are blinds made of soft thick fabric (often silk or linen) which gather into pleats when raised. They are very good for privacy, it serves as a shield (ideal for bedrooms). Their only limitation is they can only be moved up or down. Their symmetric look gives the whole room a very strong look.
