We at Red House understand that over the
years, furniture is subject to wear and tear, especially since our pieces come
from obscure parts of China.
Therefore we specialize in restoration,
to bring these pieces back to their former glory. We take pride in ensuring the
best job possible is done. Even when dismantling the pieces to ensure that no
spot is missed, we do so with great care, making sure that no nails or screws
are used in reassembling.
In the restoration process, we stress on wet
sanding each piece by hand and applying raw lacquer coats up to 5 times with
yarn to preserve the artifacts’ original finish and patina. This is all part
and parcel of the French polish finishing technique, which is considered to be
one of the most sophisticated and elaborate techniques used to finish wood in
the world today. While this process is long and arduous, the long lasting
jade-like sheen well makes up for it. As a result of its prestige, these
exclusive furniture with such finishing comes at an affordable price.
We at Red House are one of the few workshops
left in Singapore
who still subscribe to this delicate art. Still, we take pride in our work and
therefore our ability to bring our customers antiques of the highest caliber.
In addition to restoration, we are also able to custom make pieces to suit our clients’
needs.
