Because of my 6 yrs old son, I have personally spending times exploring the 3G abacus & Traditional abacus. After completing the 3G Abacus instructor course, I have applied the methods to teach my son . It is simple & easy to understand. As such, he has shown more interest in mathematics than before. I am planning to let him take part in the International Grading Exam this coming Dec 09. If possible, I will let him take part in year 2010 competition.
Attended the recent Abacus Teachers' Workshop. I fully appreciate the continued efforts of the centre in encouraging instructors to upgrade their skill through better grading. I especially like the brainstorming session during the practical test. Understanding of MBTI personality types is another eye-opener. On the whole, the workshop is awesome.
The 3G abacus Instructor course 2009 has indeed been a fruitful event for me. Not only had I gained from the speakers in classroom management and psychology, it was also a great opportunity for me to learn from other fellow teachers. The practical exam was a rare chance for me to learn various teaching techniques from the other instructors. Have also made more than 20 new friends over the 4 days course. I hope that the instructor course will continue and also looking forward to the next teacher-get-together session.
I honor the dedication, passion and caring nature of Mdm Chee, our instructor. She uses cooperative learning method that encourages in-class interaction. The course material designed by her is very concrete and age-appropriate. She is a guiding force; constantly motivating us to challenge ourselves and participate in competitions and grading exams. Without her, I wouldn’t have bagged a trophy in the National Mental Competition. Thank you, Mdm Chee.
After learning the Abacus-Mental Arithmetic, my memory power grew stronger, response speed faster and concentration level higher. I even feel younger than before. Now I would like to pass down my Abacus-Mental Arithmetic knowledge to all the people, young and old. Not only do I want to help the younger students build up their mathematics foundation, I hope to increase the memory power of the old people as well.
The class has helped me tremendously, both at work and in everyday routines. I am glad that I have taken up the class and continued with it. I hope to promote the use of mental arithmetic to others too.
Abacus is amazing. Everyone should have an opportunity to experience the power of this tool themselves. Just as what Mdm Chee’s dreams, I hope abacus can lay its footprints all over the world, not only in Asian countries but also in Western countries as well.
As an accounting person, I relied heavily on calculator to do arithmetic calculation. Sometimes, without the help of a calculator, I am unable to do simple addition and subtraction. However after attending the abovementioned course, I realized that my mental arithmetic capability has improved. Now I can handle most of the arithmetic calculations without relying on a calculator. I wish to thank Mdm Chee and SCCIOB for conducting the Abacus-Mental Arithmetic Course for adult learners and hope that more people will benefit from them.
I would like to thank my parents and Madam Chee for consistently supporting and motivating me, so that I could achieve Degree 8 in Mental Arithmetic Grading held in Sep 2011. Madam Chee had helped me in a lot of ways to build my foundation, and persistently pushed me to realized my potential.
