Loss of Body Shape and Contour

The average weight gain for a woman during pregnancy is between 25-35 pounds or 11-17 kilos. Immediately following child birth, a new mother can expect to shed about 13 of those pounds that she had gained. That, however, leaves approximately 12-22 pounds of extra weight for a new mother to lose which would normally take about 8-12 months on average. This could be frustrating, as it is not only the weight gain but the additional fat deposits which are found in body areas that we all don't desire to have, like our abdomen, flanks, thighs and buttocks.
Our clinic has the latest technologies necessary to target those undesirable fat areas that every woman loathes!

Pigmentation

Most women develop increased pigmentation as pregnancy progresses. This is most apparent in a line down the centre of the abdomen and around the genitalia and perineum.
Sometimes there is increased facial pigmentation resulting from exposure to sunlight and hormonal changes. This is the "mask of pregnancy" , so called melasma or chloasma and it can be very distressing to a woman, especially when these pigments do not go away after delivery.
Melasma causes dark blotchy spots or patches to appear on the face. These spots commonly appear on one's forehead and cheeks and are a result of increased pigmentation. When you become pregnant, your body produces more hormones, which in turn causes an increase in your pigmentation for some women.
Some pigmentation fades over time and may also decrease in size and intensity due to a reduction in sun exposure. However, often than not, melasma remains stubbornly on the face though it may continue to fade, particularly if a new mother breast feeds her child.
Nearly 50% of pregnant women show some signs of the "mask of pregnancy". At our clinic, we could recommend treatments to improve on appearance of these pigmentations.
