Vertical farming is a modern concept to cultivating life plant on vertical or inclined surfaces of the interior or exterior wall of building for ecological and environmental purposes. Artificial lightings are commonly adopted for interior vertical farming and augmentation of the exterior building with poor natural sunlight.
Greenology being our business associate had suggested various architectural proposal for research and study of their GVG System (Greenology Vertical Greenery System). In conjunction with the GVG System, LED luminaires were developed to accommodating the optimal illuminance for their respective greenwall projects.
In the case of large indoor greenwall project, G1180 series of modular LED batten was adopted for illuminating an indoor vertical farm measuring 15.0 meters width by 7.6 meters height. G118090-60W80 80W modular LED batten was customized. An average illuminance of ≥500 lux was suggested to illuminating the targeted vertical farming area of 72m2 that light source would be mounted on the ceiling of 7.6 meter high.
For the purpose of this project, 80W of modular LED batten with 30 degree beam angle was customized. Total 10 units of G118090-60W080K6 were positioned at the distant of 1.2M from the edge of the ceiling with tilting direction of 21° casting toward the entire greenwall. An average illuminance of 532 lux (Eav) with uniformity of 0.46 (u0) was achieved in the light calculation.
