Servicing & Maintenance

Tips on Proper Use & Care of Shower Screens

The primary purpose of a shower screen is to keep water and soap suds within the shower area. As a result, bathroom will be clean and dry.

However, as with all equipment that we use, the more care that we have for it, the longer and more lasting they will be. The same applies for the shower screens that we use every day. Proper use and daily maintenance and care will promote the longevity of the shower screen.

Improper Use And Rough Handling
Forceful slamming of pivoting shower doors often cause damage to moving components and, sometimes, even to shower panels. Forcefully opening/ closing of sliding panels often caused rollers to dislodge from the tracks causing the panels to jam and components to break. Applying considerable force to the shower panels (especially glass panels), whether accidentally or deliberately, can damage the panels and cause bodily injuries.

Do not use excessive force when using the shower screens. Exercise care when inside the shower area.

Mildew & Mold (Fungus)
Fungi thrive in damp and poorly ventilated areas. In a bathroom, it may appear on walls and even ceilings. As for shower screens, they are usually found on silicone and PVC gasket surfaces. Fungus growth is clearly visible if the silicone and PVC gasket are light in colour. Fungi can become very hard to remove over time.

To minimise the buildup of fungi, ventilate the bathroom as frequently as possible by opening windows and doors. In addition, use a soft hand cloth to wipe dry the shower screen surfaces regularly – daily preferably.

Stains
Stains usually develop on glass and metal surfaces when soap and shampoo suds are not removed regularly. Over a period of time, successive layers of suds mixed with fine dust will harden into stubborn stains. Some stains can be very difficult to remove.

To prevent stubborn stains from accumulating on the shower screens, use a soft hand cloth to wipe water and soap suds from all surfaces of the shower screens on a regular basis. Do not use harsh or general purpose cleaning solutions with high bleach content for cleaning as this could damage the glass and metal surfaces.

Wear & Tear Components
As with all equipment, there will be wear and tear components that should be replaced periodically to prolong the life of your shower screens.

Moving parts such as rollers, hinges, pivot blocks, guides, etc should be replaced immediately before they cause other components to fail. Other wear and tear components that may need replacements are water seals, magnetic strips and handles. Unfortunately, most wear and tear components (especially for framed shower screens) are proprietary items and can only be sourced from the original suppliers.
