DB Bistro Moderne is a French Fine Dining Resto located inside MBS.
Be prepared for the long queue though, it's located right beside Modesto. When you are there do try the sea bass and the glass of red wine :)

The ambiance was laid back but not on the service. The main courses were served in 25mins after they have been placed. First came the Coq au vin; braised chicken cooked with wine, wild mushrooms, pearl onions, few stripes of pork belly and most notable lardons. The späetzle (a form of egg noodles but small button-shaped)was served alongside in a iron cast dishware. The dish looks attempting and it gives off an exhilarating winy aroma. I immediately helped myself with the chicken thigh (it came with 2 drumsticks and a thigh) and it was all comforting. The thigh was well soaked with the thickened wine juices, leaving the skin jelly-liked. However, the meat was a bit tough and chewy. Unfortunately, the drumsticks taste similar, I\'d believe it shouldn\'t have happened on drumsticks. I am puzzled over the meat texture, even until now. On the brighter side, the thickened gravy was heavenly and you ought to drizzle it over those späetzle to enjoy, it mustn\'t be wasted. The pearl onions were sweet & so fresh that they were all crunchy at each bite! The barely noticeable stripped pork belly and cubed mushrooms were thoroughly braised and yummy. I smiled at those lardon bits that made the dish taste even better just like seeing a plate of Char Kway Teow sprinkled generously with lardons, full of guilt but gratifying.
While feeling a little upset over the chicken meat, I am so delighted that I am right about Fried Eggs Lyonnaises! The "not-so-popular" egg dish was a surprise. I am amazed that the duck confit was so well done that it was so soft and delicate (the fact that the duck meat was even tender than coq au vin\'s chicken drumsticks, makes me felt worst over it) and the caramelized onions add an extra sweetness to the meat. It was not gamey at all! The cubed potatoes embedded underneath the layer of cheese were equally delicious. I rate it 4.5/5 if I must and Coq au vin a 3.5/5, for the meat texture was not what I would expect it to be even though the gravy was a star.
Not to be missed, you must try db\'s desserts! I have a soft spot for desserts and their Warm Madeleines were to die-for! ............Spending: Approximately SGD 100(Lunch)
the bread bowl here is one of my most favourite things here! the breads are super yummy. i could sit there eatign it all day. the butter is really top quality too. and the pate is wonderful on the crisp bread. the breads are obviously from sweet spot as i saw the exact same breads when i was at sweet spot. love love love the pretzel breads! they are sooooo good and addictive i wanted to buy a whole basket or truckload home! i don\'t like their "candle" on the table. it\'s paraffin and it gives off a sickening smell which is irritating to the nose.
oh the food and service here is exceptional! it is just great.
the table service is so good, they attend to your every little need. the seafood soup thing i had was very very good. super generous with the baby mussels and seafood. they have these bowls to put your shells in and the waiter almost was going to deshell my mussels for me- she was so helpful.
the price is steep though. cost like $39++ for my bowl of mussels seafood soup thing. and the table water was Fiji water which cost $11++ a bottle! you can get it at cold storage for like $3! but otherwise the dining experience was fantastic as the food and service was just so super great. the fruit juice was custom made and it was great! but cost like $15++ for a glass of juice.
K\'s birthday is coming, so we have a early birthday celebration.
Located in the prestigious Marina Bay Sand, Daniel Boulu\'s restaurant is classy in the French bistro way; the table\'s disposition offers a certain intimacy to the customers who can seat down on red leather banquettes. The decoration is polished in the baroque style and the dishes proposed are simple and refined.
I had the Tarte Fine Provencale at $20 as starter and it has a real taste of France. The Provence is an area in France where we can find special aromatic herbs simply called "Provencal herbs". These herbs go well with tomatoes and meat; it is largely put on pizzas and this Tarte Fine Provencale offered exactly what we expect.
Well, if you want to try honest Italian food, don\'t go to a French restaurant! My Gnocchi were huge and unshaped what was not appetizing. Anyway, to be sure to not make any mistakes,K had the db burger, it was completely satisfying. I really had the feeling to eat an authentic freshly made burger and it was a heavy meal.Spending: Approximately SGD 50
it was opened by Daniel Boulud’s ,
I tried theirfamous DB burger consists of a sirloin patty, with a centre of braised shortrib & chunk of foie gras, on a soft parmesan bun. The burger arrives considerately cut in half, with a side of French fries. We ordered it medium rare while the burger definitely packs a serious beefy flavour punch, it was a bit dense & therefore a bit dry.
We also had their gougeres, which are choux pastry flavoured with cheese & topped with more cheese when it’s baked. These were unbelievably light & fluffy,i\'m addictive
to it,
I’d heard that their warm madeleines were a must TRY, so we had an order of those, . I must say the madeleines were really light & subtly fragranced with orange.
I really enjoyed my dinner here
Overall i rate 8/10
Ladies who lunch are fab.It\'s been so busy that I\'ve forgotten how to enjoy a leisurely lunch. And so on the eve of a holiday, it doesn\'t get better.
Daniel Boulud, one of the celebrity chefs who\'ve set up shop in Singapore, has his bistro in the newish Sands integrated resort down in Marina Bay.It\'s a comfortable place to dine in, with warm lighting, dark wood interiors, reminiscent of a old-style Parisian bistro but with modern fittings.
I ordered a home-made lemonade, which was overly sweet. And cloyingly so.I don\'t know why I didn\'t send it back since it was almost like drinking undiluted cordial.Must have been the holiday mood..
Bread Basket
No complaints with the bread basket, which eased the hunger pangs of a late lunch.Soft, with a nice chewy texture. If only they used better butter..
Tarte Fine Provencal
I wasn\'t quite sure about this one.My favorite bit was the smoked Mozarella melted over the top.The chewiness of the cheese allowed the savory smokiness to linger and bring what was otherwise lacking in flavor to the tart. The chopped up tomato and eggplant under the cheese was ratatouille like and while you could tell the 2 ingredients, didn\'t taste of much more.Maybe it\'s just me, but the combination of the 2 just wasn\'t enough. The squirt tail of Sauce Vierge on the side didn\'t add anything either.Pleasant enough but very person-next-door.Wouldn\'t order it again.
The Frenchie Burger
The burger on the other hand was total Yums.A good quality beef patty topped with a confit pork belly (like bacon but thicker and better)! The other condiments of caramelised onions, Morbier cheese (a French Mozarella) and cornichons added to the experience but did not distract. It was really about the 2 meats.I was a little apprehensive about the black pepper bun at first but happy it did not add too much spice. And of course the fries were nothing short of good.Even towards the end of the meal, they retained their crispiness and were extremely full flavored.Probably deep fried in fat, but that\'s how you get that quality, so really can\'t argue with that.
Gourmet burgers are the way to go here so next time I want my fix, I know where to go.Will I be a lady who lunches again soon enough?

Michelin starred Daniel Boulud recently opened a branch of his award winning DB Bistro Moderne (originally from New York), at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore. This top rated French- American bistro, in the words of Daniel Boulud, aims to provide Singaporeans with a "convivial, delicious and affordable" experience.
The place is reminiscent of a typical Parisian bistro with its "sidewalk" seating and striking red booth seats at the corner. Coupled with dark tones and cream backed chairs, the whole setting presented itself as soothing with a tinge of formalness. And tables are spaced far apart enough to ensure privacy during conversation, but get the booth seats if you can or the "sidewalk" seats if you are somewhat of a voyeur or enjoy being gawked at.
The Original DB Burger -Is it just me or is the size of the patty a little on the large side? Alright, large is a ridiculous understatement. The entire burger looked absolutely lopsided in favour of the beef (no complaints though!) and the buns, nothing more than puny pieces of window dressing. I asked for my patty to be done medium and it honestly looked rare but I attribute that to the sirloin short ribs being braised in red wine. Taste wise, the patty had the makings of a good burger - inherent beefy taste, juicy with bits of fat and a nice mildly uneven texture. It\'s only pitfall(s)? The absence of any foie gras taste (I see it, but I don\'t taste it) and the copious amount of salt that went into it. I like salt but trust me, this was salty. Not salty enough to keep me and my continuously refilled glass of iced water from polishing up every last morsel of it though. Ironically, the fries could have done with some salt but I guess the serving of mustard, mayonnaise and ketchup sufficed.
Profiteroles au Cafe - I am quite a fan of this classic French dessert and when I learnt that it was going to be drenched in chocolate syrup, I was sold instantly! And boy oh boy, was it drenched in chocolate. The profiteroles were stuffed with coffee rocky road ice cream, marshmallows, nuts and covered with a thin layer of chocolate. Hot chocolate sauce was then poured slowly over to melt the chocolate and coat the profiteroles were a thick layer of decadent, happiness inducing chocolate syrup. The richness of chocolate coupled with a smooth strong coffee taste - very good. Just don\'t consume too much as it might prove overwhelming hence the magic number of 3 per serving (I ate 4 and it really got to me).
On my part, I paid about $62 for a belly bursting brunch in a nice environment, great company and great service. My burger was decent, just too salty but the profiteroles were sinfully good. I\'m not sure the burger warrants the hefty price tag of $38++ though, seeing that I can probably get similar quality at Mortons and Spruce at a lower price or a significantly higher value ratio at Smokinn Frogz. However, if you are of the opinion that $38++ is small change, you are more than welcome to indulge in it and for something more luxurious, there is the black truffle variant, which costs a cool $88++ and is available only during dinner.

db bistro is one of the rare places in Singapore that dessert will not make you feel like an afterthought. The desserts are excellent as compared to what most Singapore restaurants will offer you.
I tried the John Dory bouillabaisse but it was a disappointment. Despite the fact that it wasn’t overcooked and with all the ingredients it has. the dish will taste amazing but it sadly lacked flavor. Therefore i do not like it. The other dishes are great thou. Just this.
